2005 645ci tilt steering not working
Just recently purchased a 2005 645, the tilt button on steering column is not working!!!!! Don't even want to drive car, because steering wheel is stuck in "trucker's position". Anybody have any ideas or experience with this issue.....maybe switch is bad?....maybe motor is bad?? Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

did you ever get a reply? I just purchased an '07 650i and have the same problem - steering wheel tilt button not working on mine either. I located the fuses associated with the steering wheel and all looked good. Stumped here too. Hoping we hear something soon. Thanks

Yes, it was one of the relays in the glove box.... above the fuses.

I did not check the glove box - can you tell me what you did? Thanks again!

Inside the glove box there is a whole other set of fuses.....it's kind of tricky to access them, you just have to figure out how to remove the cover that is concealing the fuses. There are two relays, look like square plastic components, that are actually removable. One of these two relays could possibly be bad....I replaced both just to be safe, but I'm sure you could trial and error it, to figure the right one. Good luck!

just figure out how to remove the glove box panel - thanks. I checked out all the applicable fuses and they all appear fine. So, I may have the same issue you did and have to replace the relay - did you get those at the BMW dealer or any auto store? Can you tell if they have gone bad? Sorry for all the questions, really appreciate all your help!

I bought the relay at dealership, however I did not check the auto part store??..... I'm sure if you put a meter on the relay you could tell which one is bad, but I flip-flopped them at first, and checked the switch and it worked, so you can probably figure it out if you just buy one new one by trial and error.

I seem to have just one relay in the glove box - above the fuses. I thought I'd have more relays, but only one. I did call the BMW dealership parts department this morning and the guy I spoke to wasn't much help. I'll see if I can find a detailed fuse / relay diagram to make sure the one relay controls the tilt steering wheel. Hoping for an easy fix. Thanks again for all your help!
