Dialing extended phone numbers from Bluetooth via iDrive

I am the owner of a New 2012 X3 and have paired my iPhone 4 with Bluetooth without any major issues. Only problem I have is trying to dial an extended number (>10 digits) via BT on iDrive.

For example, dialing a stored string of: a voicemail access number + a phone extension + password -- like this 555-123-1234-771234#1234#. It works fine dialing it directly from my iPhone with BT and IDrive shows all digits being dialed, but when I try to dial this same entry by selecting it via iDrive directly it does not connect.

Seems that the iDrive does not recognize the digits after the first 10 numbers... I tried to get around this by entering the number directly in iDrive but, same problem the call does not connect and does not seem to recognize any thing past the first 10 digits. There is nothing helpful in the owners manual.

I can always dial it via my iPhone but that defeats the purpose of hands free...

Perhaps this is a known issue, but it's new to me - Anyone else experience this?
Any work arounds or suggestions?

I noticed the same issue with my Blackberry when I got my X3 35i back in February and did some research. The current COMBOX that BMW is using was [stupidly] designed not to accept more than 10 digits. I was told there no fix is planned or possible until the COMBOX is replaced, possibly sometime in 2012. Personally, I cannot believe that BMW crippled the extended dial ability.
