Question JB4 Chip

The parking attendant who owns a 335i was telling me about the JB4 chip. Does BMW have their own version?Has anyone used it? He told me you just plug it in and you can take it out easily. Sounds too good to be true. I have a 2011 335is.

Its not really a chip but a processor that sits between the cars ECU & the rest of the electrical system. You unplug the wires from the ECU, plug in the JB4ís leads into the ECU then plug the cars wiring harness into the JB4. Takes a little while, a number of under hood panels have to come off & be replaced to gain access to the ECU but its not hard & can be reversed by just taking the unit out & plugging the cars harness back onto the ECU. I also have an USB wire from the JB4 that lets me change certain items & extract operating logs from the unit into my laptop.

It really works, my 335IS with no other mods on local 93 octane gas is generating 365whp or 420bhp. Stock without the JB4 its 314whp or 361bhp. The 335is is under rated in the BMW adds & specs by about 39bph. The two attached dyno sheets are from my car before & after.

Had no trouble driving away from a M3 V8 three for three during the week.

get it! I have it installed and couldn't be happier! Just remember to remove it when taking it in for maintenance!
