Enhanced Sound Option or not

I'm in the process of negotiating for a 2012 M3 Convertible (My first BMW) and I've been debating the Enhanced Sound Option. Does anyone have an opinion on the standard sound system vs the enhanced sound system? I know it's silly to debate a $1,900 option on 80k but I was just wondering what the community thought.

i didn't get it and can't imagine it being necessary. i would think if you're into that sort of thing, you'd be picking out your own speakers, etc. i prefer to listen to the engine anyway

This is obviously personal preference. Since this is your first BMW I would encourage you to listen to both systems in an M3 if you can find two with different sound systems. Do you have a timeframe in mind of how long you plan to keep the car? I personally think the standard sound systems are weak so I always painfully spend the additional dollars to upgrade.

I own both. The premium is def. Worth it.

I went with it too (still awaiting my car to be built). I figured, I would rather order it and than be sitting here in a few months wishing that I had ordered it.

I almost passed on it.. Still on the fence as to whether it was worth the extra $2k - but I went with the Premium Audio on the X5 and we are happy..

The problem is that the standard audio isn't great, but to get anything else, you spend 2K or go aftermarket, and for me, neither option was really "worth it". So I went with the premium for the M3.. I just wish it wasn't so overpriced..

Premium is particularly useful if you get an E93 where you tend to lose lots of low end with the top down. I'm not talking about blowing other car's windows in, just keeping the low frequency fullness at lower volumes...of course the option to blast some Steppenwolf at a low-rider with hip-hop shaking his license plate is still there.
