This is possibly the most fascinating area of F1. Airflow management has become so critical, that moving the exhaust ports a few inches one way or the other can totally change the behavior of a car. And they're not only looking for more downforce, but also how to stall the wings at key moments to remove downforce and drag... it's a brave new world.

Does anyone know the rule? After ham ran out of fuel in Canada qualifying, didn't they mandate that you must get back to the pit with enough fuel for the fia to draws sample for testing? Is there a penalty coming for Hamilton?
Besides that, pretty interesting grid. Alonso beats the Lotus' fair and square and everyone else protecting tires. And where did Maldanado come from?

Great result for Williams. I guess it's not really a party until you set the garage on fire. Also, good to see a new guy on the podium. Maldanado's first podium and it's a win. Not bad. It would be nice if Williams could consistently fight at the front again.
And who would have thought before the lights went green in Australia, that 5 races in, Alonso would be tied for the lead in the wdc? Amazing year so far.

This why I gave up on Dennis and McLaren years ago. They were always promising w/o delivering.

The 'Jersey' race is delayed per Eccelestone........"Maybe the New York race will take place in 2013, maybe 2014".
Dallas will happen this year.

I only remember one on track clean pass, but still, pretty tight. Only a handful of seconds covering the first six. It didn't seem like Webber had the fastest car, but there was just no way past.
Can't believe what's happening to McLaren. From looking so good early, six races on they look like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. Just been errors and bad pace and they don't seem to have an answer. I'll be in Montreal in ten days. Hopefully, we'll see Alonso be the first two time winner. Unbelievably, the F2012 seems to have the pace and he's driving exceptionally well. Looks like "a season of fail" has turned into a legitimate shot at the WDC. Go Reds!

Thursday pit lane open house in Montreal canceled due to student protesters. That sucks, it was a major hi light of the trip.

Tuition increase. Although, on average, Quebec has the lowest tuition of all the provinces. They have vowed to try to disrupt the GP as much as possible to show how elitist F1 is. So after working hard and saving all year, some students with their parents credit cards are trying to ruin my vacation because I'm an elitist.
The press release sent out by Octane Sports sounded as if they were worried that protesters would get in the pit lane Thursday and disrupt the teams. The announcement was not made until Sunday afternoon.

Ooops...
They put up new catch fences this year which made it very hard to get any decent pictures of on track action. The support series were Ferrari Challenge , Porsche GT Cup, Canadian Touring Car Challenge and Formula 1600. The paddock for those series is open to the public and we spent most of our time between on track sessions walking around there, talking to any mechanics or engineers we could and taking pictures of the cars, including six heavily modded E46 330's. Sorry, not many F1 pics. I can post some from last years pit lane open house if you like.

So anyway, what a race. Ferrari was on the pace, only to stumble with a few laps left. When Macca fumbled Hams pitstop, we felt the only choice for ferrari was to pit to cover the move, and if they had a good stop, at worst they would have come out side by side. But they didn't pit instantly, they didn't pit the next lap, Ham started putting in fast laps, and we knew it was trouble. Vettel slipped by Alonso about twenty feet away from us. We were crushed.
However, seven winners from seven races, three drivers within three points of the lead, the big three teams coming to the fore... What more could you want. I think we'll finally see the first three time winner at Valencia. I'm guessing Hamilton or Alonso. I'm also guessing that the unpredictability is over and Ferrari, McLaren and Redbull will start to seperate themselves from the rest. Very interesting is how Kimi is being solidly beat by Grosjean. Wonder how long before he loses interest and becomes the same old Kimi that Ferrari got tired of?

The black and white 330 with the M3 body kit was the most heavily modded and not surprisingly, won both races. The mechanic said it made the series max allowed 300 hp, naturally aspirated. The motor was barely recognizable as an M54.
