Z3 Winter project question

I pulled the front control arms off to check the rubber bushings. What is the normal amount of play? Being in rubber they move about 1/2 an inch twisting them back and forth but tight on the shaft. All other parts seem tight with the exception of a plastic protective tube on a coil spring. Its kind of crunched so don't know how important it is? Part # 31331137932 Looks like alot of work for a two dollar part. Any thoughts?
