Probably time to park it on the side of the road and take the plates off.....j/k
Take it to one of the auto parts stores that does free code readings, get the Pxxxx code and post it here. Make sure you tell us what year and engine you have. Last edited by JimLev; 11-30-2011 at 06:48 AM. |

I see "Burbank"...hopefully it's not Burbank CA...if so...then the auto part stores don't read OBD II codes. California is one of the few states that don't allow places like AutoZone to scan for OBD II codes.
![]() But I should have started with...if you have a warning light come on and you don't really understand what it means...the first place you should go is your owners manual for an explanation. If you don't have an owners manual...you can download one in PDF format directly to your CPU so that you can have 24/7 access to the information it contains (plus it's much easier to search) You can find manuals at the bottom of the left column at www.e38.org/e39 . If your model year is NOT listed...then download the manual that is CLOSEST to your model year...you won't miss a thing. -![]() --![]() ![]()

What I'll do is add the helpful posts from this classic newbie question thread to the poolman thread designed t answer the question at the highest level.
That way, the next person who asks about his CEL w/o knowing how to test for codes, gets the same educated answers from those who helped above. I'll continue to do that until/unless more specific information is posted by the OP as a result of that, into this thread. At that point, this thread can take on it's own specific life depending on the results of the code scan. |

Mine is on and only has from my Peake scan tool the following: O2 adaption limit cyl 1-3 and O2 control limit cyl. 1-3. Any suggestions? ICV has been cleaned, MAF cleaned and tested, O2 sensors only have ~30k on them, new intake/throttle body boot, new spark plugs, etc.
