CABMW, Interesting information. It seems that the difference is that in CA it's regulated. Frankly, as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing. In the end the difference seems to be mostly semantics. If you pay your money and your car breaks, if you have a good company behind you they pay according to the terms of the policy. From what I can see, for the car owner there is really no difference, except that the "Insurance policy" aspect means that you are not subject to any fly by night companies (hopefully). That may be why Mercury Insurance is a big seller of these policies.
Thanks for setting the record straight.

A warranty to me is an insurance policy, isn't that what options are to equities? FWIW, In my costco renewal there was an offer for an extended warranty so before I sign up w/ Autopom I thought I should shop it. Costco to me is very reputable and I was quoted 48 months and 48k miles for $6800+ but if I drove my car over 45k mile which I am a few miles away it would jump to $7700+. It sounded great but I wouldn't do any warranty for that cost. I'd roll the dice and not do one or if the bills became to high I'd sell the car. But in a couple of months I will go the Autopom route. Gives me piece of mind and it seems reasonable considering the quotes I have received.

Does anyone know if the AutoPom warranty covers the Dynamic Drive suspension parts? The exclusions list on AutoPom indicates torsion bars are not covered, but not sure if AutoPom considers the whole Dynamic Drive unit an exclusion. I've had some problems with the Dynamic Drive in the past and it is a costly repair.

If you go with the Platinum policy everything is covered except what is listed. That's what I did. It's called listed exclusions.

So let me get this straight.... I have a 2007 650i with about 63000 miles on it, if I am to get a warranty what sort of things should I bet looking for or asking for, and what kind of price should I be looking at paying? I would want the best peace of mind policy

Unless you are buying/just bought you will need to get a straight aftermarket policy.
As you can see from the thread it depends on where you live as to the type of policy you can get. One thing to look for is the "Named Exclusion" policy.

That means if it's not on the list then it's covered. Makes life easier. Also confirm that your service company or dealer will accept the warranty company's payments. I'd recommend auto-POM since I have a good experience with them so far.

You're going to have to do some research but it seems worth it, at least for me.

I have an '07 Vert. with 37k when I picked it up in Nov. I went for the Platinum package with $0 deductible.

My car is an '07 and has 37k miles and they can extend to 100K and 6 years from the date of purchasing the warranty. Far better deal than the dealers offered me. Seems like a strong policy and company. Hopefully I won't need to test them out.

I'm going with the Platinum policy. Here's a link to the contract FYI.

I think this is a reputable company and the exclusion list is straight forward. I would definitely go with Platinum package

Yes Hyundai...Almost free and worth every penny.

Common now, at least it's not a Ferrari with $25K for a break job. You don't get this performance for free.

Yea, it's a pain, and yea it's expensive but you know you love it...
