Distortion from Premium Stereo

Hi- I have a 2011 750i M Sport with Prem Stereo. I seem to be getting a distortion/ crackling noise from the front speakers on some songs. Ive adjusted the equalizer but no change. Anyone else had this issue?

OK, I'll say this, while I was initially not too impressed with the Premium Sound (see my post if you're interested), to its credit, it does produce some VERY tight bass (pretty much on all music: rap, hip-hop, pop, jazz/classical) and I've pushed it hard, all w/o any door or speaker rattles. The car does have it's occasional share of rattles here and there (my 01 740 is completely rattle free, save for the occasional speaker), but never from music.

Maybe you have a blown speaker?

Certain songs sound like **** on this stereo for me. Every now and then I'll hear the mid range speakers having a hard time handling the sound. Subwoofers seem fine, it's just the mid-range that are garbage.

Where are you getting your MP3s from? Most common cause is poor MP3 quality.

Try downloading a known, quality MP# download of the same song and see if the issue persists.

Thanks for the responses - it happens on MP3 and Sirius. It happens at various volumes and is a static/buzz noise when someone is talking/singing not on instrumentals. I will take it in and have it looked at.

I think something was loose as the noise appears to have gone after taking it in today. Nothing was replaced but connections were checked. Fingers crossed that it doesn't come back...
