My wife's funny X5 35d observation...
After two gasoline-powered X5 models (E53 and E70), we made the switch to a diesel this time around. We've only had it about two weeks, but we couldn't be happier. Both of us like its unique diesel "rattle" as it sounds both unique and powerful (it is easily the loudest of the bunch when compared to the Touareg, Cayenne and ML).
Long story short, my wife just called to tell me that she has noticed nearly every dog in the neighborhood turns around to look at her driving up and down our big hill — the dogs hear the diesel noise and think it is a FedEx/UPS delivery truck coming around the corner!  - Mike

Love it. Just be careful, some folks around here get a little testy when FedEx truck is mentioned in the same post as the 35d. Personally, I think it sounds more like a UPS truck. :-)
