Congrats!! Cannot wait to place an order. Have to keep my present car for a few more months before I take the leap. Cannot wait to see real pics and hear real reviews.

It very well could be a much shorter time frame like 2-3 weeks. So much goes into how long it sits at port waiting for a ship and the processing at the VDC. I guess it is still possible that the car will show up in time if everything goes right. I typically like to have low expectations and be pleasantly surprised when it ends up better than expected!
You can at least keep the hope alive for now right

Yes, we definitely noticed it when we had to order the package to get it
![]() The two are integrated together as the turns can show up on the HUD screen. Not saying it is a good reason for them being bundled but there is at least a connection in some way between the two.

I have looked into what ships will be leaving from Bremerhaven over the next few weeks and it looks like you want your car to be on the INDEPENDENCE II if you have hopes of it getting to you at the February 11 launch date. Here is the schedule from Bremerhaven to Charleston, SC...add or subtract based on your Port of Entry and add in a few days for the VDC and then another couple for the transport to your local dealer.

Ask your dealer for an update. They should have a daily update of the status of their customer cars and what boat they would be getting loaded on to. Give them a call and ask them to tell you what ship it is on and let us know what you find out!
Until I get time to get my more detailed delivery tracking guide done, here is a link to the Wiki with details on tracking your car from European Delivery ... it should give you some great links to track the progress once you find out what ship it is on... http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index..._United_States

A number of us have cars at the port waiting for shipping. I'm checking daily through the BMW 800 number to see if there has been a change in status. I will post a note on here as soon as I have shipping confirmation (my car is coming to the West Coast so it will take longer to arrive than those bound for the east coast). I would hope that others will do the same so we'll have a pretty good idea when shipments have actually begun. So far, my dealer has no word when he will start receiving any 3's, either. Hopefully, they will start shipping in the next week or so and start getting to the dealers by the middle to end of February.

I ordered mine on the 2nd, and BMWUSA still shows the status as order accepted. I talked to my CA today, and he let me know that the website is a couple of weeks behind in status updates, my car is already in production, and should be on US soil by the first week of February! Unfortunately, it won't be released to the dealership until the EPA gets their ****e together. Maybe March 1st?

I'm curious. Why do you assume it's a problem with the EPA? Maybe BMW has been late with the paperwork or maybe everything is right on schedule for a mid-February release.

From what I have gathered, the paperwork was filed on October 27, 2011 with the EPA. The latest estimates I just got were March 2012 but it can swing either way by a month apparently. I'm still holding on to it being lifted in time though.

It is an estimate. We all know how useful those are.
The 3 Series Brand Manager did not seem to be worried about missing the launch so I am not going to get too worried about it yet. Let's wait and see if the cars get loaded onto a ship in the next week before we get too worried.

As far as the assumption that there is a hold-up with the EPA, it's not a delay per se. I think that everything is progressing according to plan. It's just that they EPA is the last hurdle that has to be overcome before the cars are released to US dealerships. Finally, to answer the earlier question, my CA is the one who told me all of this. I can't independently verify it, but it seems reasonable to me. |

Good news, my sources just sent me an update that the EPA certificates are now in hand ... the cars have been approved. The bad news is they are still waiting on CARB approval for the 328i but they are hoping to have that all in hand by the end of the month!

California Air Resources Board. Not sure why that could hold up a delivery to a non-CA location but who knows.

My CA just emailed to say that they'll have a demo 335i delivered to the dealership this weekend. If the demo is able to be driven in the US, the first deliveries can't be far behind.
