If I lived in a non-front-plate state, I would refuse to take delivery until the mount is removed. Front plates are "required" in California, but I haven't had one for 6 years. I think that if you're spending 40k+ on a new car, the dealer should be willing to accommodate small requests like this.

Steve Jobs avoided license plates altogether.

I wish it was that simple...the early car(before 1/14) bumpers were made with 2 holes...they will happily take it off for me, but there will be 2 holes in the bumper

Wait, your talking about the f30 models having the front plate mount right? I ordered an e92 which is currently waiting to load on a ship. I actually called my CA yesterday to make sure no holes were drilled for the front license plate. I will not be putting it on

Oh I didn't know that. Congrats, you must be excited. I'm guessing cars get loaded in order of the processed order date? Correct me if I'm wrong....

When my car first went into production, online was telling me stage 2 and the 800 number said there was no production date. I guess at rare times the site it right. My car is currently waiting at the port with no shipping information

Awesome...glad it was your car. I'll be really interested in seeing some pictures of your car with the halogens on it.

Seems like there are going to be a lot of happy members next week

Yea, i have already seen what the look like on. I might change out the bulbs for something a little less "dull" maybe replace the halogen in the drl for some led bulbs.

this is what the drl looks like

In my car, the DRL are disabled...I just turn the lights on manually every time I start the car. I kind of prefer that. Anyone else do that? The only disadvantage is that I think the other displays (like radio and climate control) get slightly dimmer. And of course, only the low beam bulb gets used.

Just wanted to be able to start the car with lights off and have them off should I choose to do so. If DRLs can be enabled/disabled via iDrive, then I would have no problem having them enabled.

Nice...and you're one of the first public consumers to get one. Congrats! BTW I think the partially exposed kidneys are growing on me.

Why no xenons?

Would have been an extra 3000 for xenons. I got leather, but dont need moon roof, power seats, or special mirrors. Tried to keep the car around 40K. The halogens arent that bad, and i will replace some of the bulbs with led.

Since the car won't have power seats, I am interested in hearing what the manual controls look like. I'm hoping they switch back to the E36/E46 style controls, but if they are like the E90, I want to know if the control for sliding the seat back and forth still juts out like it did with the E90.

I actually don't think that the standard halogens look bad at all on the F30. I just have a thing for the halos, but other than that I think you will be happy that you saved the money. The average person could probably care less.

the halos would have been ideal, and if the xenons were a standalone option(like they should be) i would have gotten them. The halogens will be fine, i dont drive at night to much anyways, but i did like the light it gave off in my 335's. I am going to try and replace the drl lights with some LED's. could look pretty cool.
