7 Series - E65 / E66 (2002 - 2008)
Discussion of BMW's 4th generation E65/E66 7 Series flagship. The E65 generated much controversy, due to its radical styling and iDrive user difficulties. Nonetheless, the E65 broke records to become the best-selling 7-series iteration ever, especially after its 2005 facelift.

Question CD changer flap won't come down and CD changer wouldn't eject

So I have been having this issue of my CD changer not coming out, 2 days ago, it somehow finally popped out and I changed out some CDs and put it back in, now the CD changer flap won't go down and when I try to hit Eject again, the magazine is no longer popping out again..... but it still works.

anyone has any idea how to fix this?

If it still drives the mech when you press eject, chances are it's got stuck through lack of use..

I had a similar issue with my rear DVD changer not ejecting, if my memory serves me well I think one of trays failed to unload (meaning it won't eject).

I just kept tapping/knocking it while it was attempting to unload the cartridge and after a min or so it came out..

Upon loading my DVDs back into the drive, I made sure to select each one a few times to get the gear lubrication back into circulation again..

If your trays load/unload fine (you're able to play all 6 CDs) then either the cartridge mech has failed (or is stuck), the flap position sensor has failed (or is stuck) or some glitch exists between the controller and the CDC..
On the E65, the CDC eject button isn't directly linked to the CDC (unlike the DVDC) as it needs to open a flap (and confirm its position) before ejecting the cartridge..
If it can't do that, it tends to avoid ejecting the cartridge..

I would kill the power from the car for a few mins (resetting all systems) and see if it closes after re-applying the battery lead.

To remove the cartridge (don't thank me):

get a butter knife. Put the flat edge at the bottom of the changer all the way to the right hand side and slide it in. There is a metal tab that it will hit and put your cd back in the cartridge. Then keep the butter knife in there and slide it all the way towArds the left and it will hit the lock mechanism and spit it out. Good luck.

the reason why your changer wont eject is because your door is out of sync with the gears that open the flap. when the door reaches the top of the cd changer there is a tab on the right side of the at the top door that is suppose to push in 2 buttons that are on the motor bracket at the same time. if the tab has a missing tooth or somehow just got out of sync it wont hit both and just one. if only one is pushed in it will not spit out the cartridge.

No love yet...

My O8 760Li has the number 2 CD protruding via a small black plastic stick. I assume I will NEVER get the changer out until I can get CD #2 to not be in "playing" mode. The #2 CD is still stuck, and I can't get it to do anything. I put a new #6 fuse in, nothing.

Do I need to do this while the car is fully lit up, ready to drive, or do I need to do something else?

My iDrive shows the CDC and the CD grayed out. I've tried all the methods here on Bimmerfest, but none of them work. TurnerTX has one of the best methods, but I have removed the small screws to get to the "sliding" part, but there is nothing that will move behind/below that plastic part where the tiny screws and the wire card.

I went to lunch and when I came back, the door had closed, but that was the last time it did so. Now it's basically dead. Having given it power, what else could I be missing?

Am I destined to let the Dealer fix this?
