So what does this mean? I can order my car, options, and specs and everything tomorrow? My dealer mentioned a $250 deposit and then i could order the car sometime in december.

I could buy without seeing but I couldn't buy without driving. I think you know what I'm saying. The drive is the most important part to me. I like the look already except for a few points.

Can you back out and get all your money back if you want?

I don't have a problem buying a new BMW without seeing it or driving it. It's about the only car that always drives just like I like it . It may not be perfect but it's always close to it.

Based on the reviews, and based on the fact that this car is light and has 240 hp, I could easily purchase this car without test driving, especially since I have owned BMWs before. I have also driven an I6 328i before which had more than enough power for daily driving. It almost made me think that purchasing the 335i was overkill.

Another fact of the matter is that test drives SUCK!! I almost did not purchase my first BMW because I had a short test drive and just thought that it was wayyyy overpriced. I almost bought an M35 in 2008 instead. Luckily, I placed an order for my 335i and will never forget the feel once I first really stepped on the throttle or when I took my first real curves.

The only thing that stood out on my crappy test drive was the braking. It was outstanding and I never felt anything like it.

The bottom line is that Justin will be happy with this car. He knows that 240 hp is enough and has owned BMWs before. Aside from the "forced" choices, one cannot deny that the new exterior and interior look is amazing to most people.

The two main complaints for me are the Xenons and the red stitching for the interior. This limits the exterior color choices that will match. If you pick the "wrong" color combos, this could really affect resale value.

The things I love are the automatic idrive, new sport auto gearshift and instrument panel. I am that part of the demographic that BMW is catering to so Im happy for the mostpart with the redesign.

I bet some of these things will change in 2013 and we will see a new or modified 335i engine.

I know. I need to do both. Many cars photograph better than they look in person and vice versa. Granted buying a BWW is not as hit or miss as buying a GM car, but I still need to sit in it, experience the fit, and of course, drive it.
I can't tell you how many times I have heard people complain about things after purchase that could have been discovered if they had only test driven a vehicle...properly.

I stopped by my dealer today for a car wash and found the sales manager and one of his CAs poring over the BMW UK configurator, debating the particulars for their initial allocations. Although that must be a ton of fun, in some ways I don't envy them the task. It didn't seem so at first, but looking at everything laid out on the desk...the new array of Lines, packages and options is dizzying!

Just wondering how much over invoice can be expected at this stage on a new 328 order. Thanks!

Jon:
Any suggestions in the DC area?
What is the best pricing over invoice or off msrp that can be expected at this point?
Are there any incentives (like the $1000 financing credit) on the 328?
Finally, if I did not order now and decided to wait for the xi, think we might be able to start ordering them in April for June delivery? (given that with the i, we're ordering in december for feb delivery).
Thanks!

Realistically I have no sense of the market in the DC area. My best advice would be to
begin your buying process with a Bimmerfest sponsor and see if you can a deal you are happy with...

Unfortunately, none of the current Sales Support programs are targeting the New 3.

I had a file somewhere with the SOP dates; my brain must be getting old; I cannot recall
when Start of Production begins for the xi. Your logic sounds reasonable, though.

Jon, based on previous years, what's the additional tab for the xi? Living in the snow belt, I'm also waiting for it. Thanks.

This I would also have said before driving the new 5. I suspect the new 3 will have the new "floaty" feel. After driving the new 5 I decided to go with the 2011 E92.
