I am interested in a every day car which is more comforable for taffic and daily use

I am interested in a every day car ,which is more comfortable for traffic and daily use to work and just hanging around, but still fun to drive and have fun with the BMW 335is or the BMW M3

The M3 is a bit of a beast to for a DD.

Maybe a 528?

A 335I fits that description perfectly. Go drive one. Imho the M3 is a bit harsh/noisy/expensive for every day, unless you just LOVE that riding in a sports car feeling.

But for the M3 inst there a comfort mode to make the side softer, and the m3 just looks better

My M3 in the lower comfort modes is just as squishy as a Cadillac. Just dropped off a 335d and have owned 335i as well. M3 set soft is soft. The trans isn't the best for crawling, but otherwise good. Will be my DD. Only wish it gave better mileage, but... M-Drive

I have comfort mode. It doesn't make the car any quieter or the transmission any more refined. It's a compromise. Especially if your commute is long, use it as a family car, or if you often carry passengers.

If you want a car that is truly more comfortable, I recommend the new 6 series Gran Coupe.

M3 can be both a comfortable DD and a scary beast in the same ride home

Are you sure? Why would BMW offer the 550i if that were the case?

Bigger backseat and more torque?

M3 is my daily driver. The only draw back is obviously the MPGs.

Exactly. The torque characteristics and tranny, with the increased space and suspension make it a more comfortable daily driver. Especially in stop/start and urban 25-35 mph environments.

Also a lot of women, mothers don't prefer the M3.

So, Chris, I gather you own or have owned one and base your statements upon living with one.

I had one three yeas ago with 6sp and went back with the DCT. Changing the Sport level seems to do a lot in my car for shift characteristics and ride firmness.

I currently have a 2011 M3 E93. I have previously had an E60 535i, 530i SMG, and 525i; E93 335i; E46 323ci and 325i. Out of all these, I'd say the 535i and 525i were better daily drivers than my current M3. I have a 750iAH on order which I also think will make a better daily driver than the M3. Naturally I think of daily driving as stop/start traffic, running the kids to school, going to the store and restaurants.

I don't recall any professional review saying the M3 is a good daily driver or good family car. It's generally that the M3 is a wonderful sports car, than can be used as a daily driver or family car, without too much compromise. It seems like the OP wants a good daily driver that can compromise with some sport.

The OP is looking for a daily driver. Are we really trying to help the OP, or defend our choice of car regardless of what is in their best interests? Are we ignorant to other excellent cars in the market? Do we let our pride get in the way? I don't see anyone asking what their regular passenger loads are, what type of driving they do etc. However, the OP has mentioned that the M3 probably is too sporty for what they want. We think he didn't try comfort mode already? Isn't that a strong hint that he doesn't want an M3?

It's like going to a restaurant and telling the waiter that you don't want to eat fish - then they tell you that the cod is good, and the chef makes it with a chicken like sauce, so it's not really too fishy. A better waiter would have just recommended chicken.

So, anyway... when I press that button thingy behind the handle it makes bars go up and down and feels like things change. But you said it didn't make a difference and when I do mine... it does

You seem to know a lot, should I take mine in to the Dealer and see what's broken?
