Hey M4XBMW7, yes that is the unit.
If you look in your left rear quarter, do you have the connection plug there, just above the NAV unit?

The DVD changer is a retrofit kit available for all 7's so there must be some sort of connection point.

If you are missing these in the front, and you have the Genuine BMW Rear Entertainment system, then either 1. It was a retrofit and it hasn't been coded to your car or 2. but I will see what I can find out.
I have never seen the TV and DVD functions NOT available in the front of a 7. Every 7 I have looked at has the TV and DVD option in the front MMI menu.
Are there any other 7 owners there state side that have the TV and DVD available on the front MMI? Please chip in to this post
I've been researching this issue for quite a while now. For all US E65/E66, the VIDEO source should be disabled on the front MMI menu. It's either a programming thing or the video cable is not even connected to the front display. At this point, I'm not sure which is the reason. I have the MMI trace files from NCS Expert. I'm willing to compare with other non-US source to confirm whether it's a programming thing or not.

For US F01/F02, this is not the case. Just the video-in-motion feature is disabled on the front display by default. You can enable it back easily without a third party component.

Correct. One of the parameters in North America spec MMI / Control Display modules removes the Video menu (2002 - 2005) or TV / DVD (2006 - 2008) from the list of Entertainment sources.
The MMI/CD has to be recoded to enable the menu option(s). Only after this is available does it make sense to buy the Video In Motion module.

Here are some screen shots from a car that did not have rear entertainment, but had the TV/Video module retrofited and MMI/CD recoded: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=563704

OK Guys.....I have successfully worked it all out!!!!!
If you have rear TV or DVD I can tell you how to make it appear in the front.

It is a simple code change of the front MMI.

I used Dashsoft 2.10 which I purchased off eBay and I have posted in this forum about how it works and how to use it.

Now with this tool, all you have to do is go to command line 3002 and change pos1: 55 to 5F (gives DVD on front MMI) and change pos5: 49 to 4B (gives TV on front MMI)

If you get stuck......let me know.

I have successfully got control of everything on the MMI now. I can show or remove AUX, TV, CDC, DVD, Bluetooth, CBS, OIL Level, Front Seat Heating......anything on the MMI

Hey hd750Li, the video works right around the entire MOST bus via the fibre optics. There is no missing cable.
The only reason you don't see it on the front MMI is because of a simple ASCII code change that needs to be done.
US spec cars have this code set to not show TV and DVD, so by simply changing the code in the MMI, you will get TV and DVD on the front screen.
As per my previous post, you can do this yourself simply and enjoy video on the front screen......

I am in Australia, and I bought a second hand facelift MMI from the US, and I have successfully recoded it to suit my car here in Oz, and it shows TV and DVD video fine....as per my videos I have posted.

You guys can enjoy video in the front easy........if you get stuck just ask me......and I will help

Ace, does this include displaying video on the front screen when the car is moving?

Edit: nevermind; if I had read the whole thread I would have seen that you need the dongle...

Yep, dongle required for video on the move. There are two cables that connect to the MMI. One is for the NAV, the other is for the MOST bus. The dongle interfaces the NAV cable on the back of the MMI to trick the MMI into thinking that it is not moving.....even though it is...

ABC News

Hello All

took 15 mins

now watch ABC news on the way to work did i say watch i meant listen :-)

my tuner picks up on the analogue channels, it gets all the digital stations as well however its a bit jumpy when on the move or ven parked for that matter , slight lag n hesitation.

i presume its a digital tuner other wise it wouldn't get those channels at all right ?

Hi, AceFX! Wonder if you can help!!! I just bought a 2008 750Li (USA) and it does not have the rear entertainment package! I bought a used BMW 6-Disc Changer off ebay trying to add it in so I can watch DVD on the iDrive screen but I could not see any connection in the trunk where the Navigaton DVD is! Could that connector hidden behind somewhere that I have to open the left-side panel to see it? Or that I have to buy a connector to the changer because it does not come with it? Thanks in advance!!!

You will need to get a MOST cable to loop it into the MOST Bus.... they are not expensive. Can you tell me what else is in your trunk in the rear left quarter.

Thank for the reply, AceFX! The only thing is in the left trunk is the Navigation DVD! Tried to look for the DVD connector, but could not find it!
