Cruise Control Fix

Hey ya'll. I recently joined the E30 fan group by buying a '90 325i. I love these cars. I need some advice about how to fix the cruise control. Mine simply does not work at all. Any suggestions on how to go about fixing the problem? Should I get a new CC module first? Any experience that you would be willing to share?
I appreciate your help!

If you are going to DIY, I'd look at the cable drive in the under hood unit, and see if the belt is broken.

Also check the switch on the clutch pedal . If it is not open, then the cruise thinks that the clutch is depressed and it holds the cruise control off . Usually, it is a slightly tweaked bracket that holds the switch in position to contact the clutch pedal arm .
