HELP!! Heat not working in my 1986 735i

So here's my problem, and hopefully there's someone out there on this forum who can give me some direction. First of my heat doesn't work in my car. When I push the heat buttons on the dash, the green indicator lights do not even come on. Second, I don't think its the blower motor as something in the form of air flows through the top vents but not the vents on the dash. Lastly, I have bought this thing called a final stage unit or blower motor resistor but have no clue where it is located. Any ideas anyone? what's going on with my heat????????????
