cross shopping 328i with A6 2.0T

Loving the 328i in this video but as shown it's well over $50,000:



I realized the 328i is so expensive when you want sport package and nav that you can buy an A6 for the same price - $45k. If you're shopping 528i @ $55k, you can get an A6 3.0T with the S4 engine for the same price (and an extra 100 hp and 100 ft/lb).

It doesn't start as cheap as the 3 but it comes with everything so you just pick paint and leather color:

18" 5-spoke alloy wheels with 245/45 all-season tires
Audi xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights
Audi MMI® Navigation plus with voice control system
Audi MMI® touch handwriting recognition
Keyless start
Audi connect
Parking system plus with front and rear sensors

Honestly for folks like me I'm not saving any money getting into a 3 because the value isn't there.

thats a 50K audi a6 you just priced out...with a 2.0litre.....

Yup...and it still drives like an Audi. Might as well look at a VW Passat.

Does that model come with the CVT?

Are you kidding? One of WestWest's threads is on Bimmerfest's home page, even though the first post read very similarly.

If that's a "value" that you would buy, there are much better alternatives out there than a sedentary Audi with a out-of-class engine.

When you buy a 3-series, you don't buy a "value".

You are ridiculous once more.

I don't really know anyone who shops Audi or BMW for value. Seems like those who do may have missed the fact that these are high-margin vehicles less focused on value per dollar spent.

For the value shopper looking at the 528/A6, may I recommend a tour of a Hyundai Genesis? Far more "value"

He's got a point, though. I shopped both the X3 and Q5 recently and found essentially the same thing. Opting for Audi's premium plus package I got everything I wanted/needed. No having to take unnecessary options. The X3 came standard with vinyl, cheap looking rims, no sunroof, and so on. Once you added up the multiple options/packages that brought it up to Audi level, the X3 was $3500 higher.

I ended up buying the X3 but both are great SAVs. My wife liked them both. Had it not been for the $2K BMW incentives and the 4 month wait for an ordered Audi, my decision might have been different.

I got wood from the engine sound of that 4. I take back everything I said.
