New here with 320i issues

Have a 1979 320i that will start after about 20 cranks, but will no rev up past 1800/2000 RPM, have had the car since may and when it runs its a great little car, has always been a pain starting, but now since i replaced the fuel line from the filter to the tank has lack of power and wont rev up, have changed both fuel pumps and the filter. Would be greatful for any advise or help, also looking for a proportioning valve for this car, it is leaking from the canister, thanks agaiin BMC New York

Plugs fouled?

Its been a long time since i had my E21, but I am thinking you need to check your dwell angle on your points (do you still have points on yours?) and then your timing on your distributor.

I'd check your fuel pressure at the top, it's possible debris entered the fuel system and is restricting flow. It is also possible to have gotten a bad fuel pump, I've purchased a new fuel pump that did not work, it took me days to figure it out, but sometimes they don't work. If the pump is good but you have low fuel pressure replace the filter again and run compressed air backwards through the lines. Do this in as many small sections as possible, anywhere that you can open the fuel system to the next point, pay close attention to rubber to steel connections as the rubber hose is larger and the steel line makes a bottleneck.

we had the same issue with a boat i just bought. something was plugging the fuel system so it had a hard time starting. try checking every inch of your fuel system for any bockage

Also sounds like the starting jet is blocked/defective/disconected
