Automobile Magazine: 325d to U.S. in 2013

I read this from my iPad app, so can't give a link. This was included with an article about the new 3 series, so presumably the info should be more current than what we've heard in the past.

Can't find anything about it on their on-line magazine. Please post a link when you can.

It's in the magazine, so not sure if they will put it on the website. You might have to look at a copy at the newstand, it's in a sidebar to the article on the new 3 series.

Do you think they will use the moniker "325d" or "328d"?

The title of the sidebar section I quoted from Automobile is "325d", so I guess that is supposed to be the name. It's also possible that BMW might choose another name for marketing reasons.

Love to see this with a manual transmission - could be the bullet-proof drivetrain.

If the 335d remains trouble-free it'll be hard to give it up for less TQ & HP + numb electric power steering!

After all my D is paid for so I would think twice about trading it in for a lesser vehicle.
It should be good for over 500,000 miles!

But when the f30d or f10d does make it over to this side of the pond it'll be a different story.

Does BMW sell a 535d in Europe? If so, this would be my next car and it would be an ED for sure.

Yes, the N57-powered F10.

It doesn't have SCR (urea) exhaust treatment yet, so it wouldn't pass EPA/CARB specifications. The EURO 6 emissions specification that builders must comply with by 2014 will likely require SCR for the high-power diesels, so it is reasonable to assume that at least MY2014 535d's would be potentially exportable to N.A.

I feel the same way. The exception is Dinan or some other BMW approved tuner coming up with a chip for extra hp& lbs/ft for the 325d. 4 cylinder lighter car should handle better also.

@stoked335d I believe that tuners will soon become fancied with the DIESEL, I installed the RENNtech flash in my car and I was getting over 40mpg on the highway, I STRONGLY believe the 20d will arrive and MANY people will jump on it. I say this because here in Puerto Rico the 335d would arrive and they would NOT LAST two weeks in the showroom before being bought. I never had the chance to drive one, I happened to go to Orlando on a pleasure trip and then I was able to test drive one and believe you me I fell in Love, put it this way my girlfriend is thinking in buying the X5d or x6md. Remember, Chevrolet is bringing the CHEVY Cruze and Audi is going to open their line of DIESELS and I believe Toyota or Mazda will bring thei counterparts from EURASIA here. DIESEL is the next IT , in the nearby future!!!

I have a really hard time believing any 3 series is good for 500k miles. But I guess it depends on what one believes is an acceptable amount of $ to keep the car going v. what the car is worth.
