Google Maps--New Version-can't Email to car?

As some of you may have noticed, Google Maps is a new version, and it appears they have removed the option to email locations anywhere, let alone choose a car to email to....

Am i missing a hidden menu or have they in fact deleted it? I sent a message to Google but have not received any response.

Happy Holidays!!!

Click "Link" icon, then click "Send" link - then you will be able to send.

Used it today, however spent some time looking for it..

The UI designers should be fired for making it this hard to find the link to send to a car

Agreed they buried in in 3 places:

Click the chain link icon then send

Click more then send

Click the destination location balloon then more then send

Maybe its a new game and there are more?

Agreed. And it was completely useless (no send button anywhere) last time I looked on my iPad.

Update: Here's how to do it.

Install the Google search onto your iPad
Switch to classic mode
Enter the address into search box
on the LEFT HAND side click more then send (don't use the pin on the map - it won't work)
Then car/BMW/address
it just worked

Time to send address to the car

A couple of days ago, I used Google Maps to send three addresses to the car. It took 4-5 hours before the information was downloaded to the car. Is this normal? You would think that it would only take a few minutes.

Same has happened to me a few times, but I'm not sure if it's a Google or a BMW issue.

Ok, stupid question, I bought a used E92 with idrive. I see the PO sent emails to the car from google, apparently.

How do I do that I.e. what is the car's email address?

Requires an active BMW Assist account.

Push the SOS button and ask them to set up your desired email address if this has not been done already.

Through your BMW Assist account. When you sign up for BMW Assist you supply an email address that they associate to the account. It is that email address that is used to route the location data sent by Google via the teleservice used by BMW Assist to your car.

Thanks for the replies, that's helpful.

I signed up for the BMW assist through my CA last week, and supplied an email (my personal email) account for this which they recorded.

So, now, I can verify that BMW has my email account.

My question was, how do I send the "address" via Google to "the car"? I can picture me in Google, and setting up a destination. What do you enter in Google? If I enter my email address as above, how does Google "know" to send it to the car? I assume the car does not get all my email sent to my email account.

Hence my confusion?

On the left-hand side of your google maps screen you will see a "more" link. Hit it and choose "send". From there choose "car"....you can figure out the rest.

Google to the rescue:

"Just visit maps.google.com and search for any business or street address. When it appears, click "Send", choose "Car" and select "BMW", then type in your e-mail address on file with BMW Assist as the account name, a personal note if desired, maybe a phone number, and hit "Send"."

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...MyInfoFAQ.aspx

Thanks all! Just tried it tonight, will see if I have any messages in the car in the morning.

FYI, depends on the model year of your E92. If it's a 2009 or later, you've got it. 2008 or older, you don't. (My M3 was a 2008.)

I've discovered that the Send/Car command is not always visible if you link into Google maps from another site (like a restaurant web page). It has always worked for me, however, by going straight through the main Google maps resource, as you identified.

Got it.

New question: I can't seem to work out how to bring up the 'send to car' command on either the Map or Google Map app on my iPhone.

Does anyone know if that works, and if so, how?

I got google maps, and played with the various views and options, but can't seem to find it.

Thanks. Just figured this out.

I had to load the My BMW app from the app store, then log in on the iPhone with my BMW assist account.

I just sent the address of United BMW to the car from my iPhone.

Sweet!!

Exclamation

In order to have this option do I need to pay and enable the CONVIENCE BMW online pckge charge of $199
Or am I good with having the BMW apps and Iphone cradle?
I haven't bought the cradle yet!
Debating if its worth it. Basically just want go on the internet on the idrive, is this feasable ..facebook google etc?
Is the $ 199 online pckge charge worth it from anyone who has had it for a yr or more?
