Thumbs down CDC issues "07 750Li

I recently purchased a 2007 750li sight unseen on the internet. Great car with 35k miles. My CDC will not function after being properly loaded w 6 CD's. The Single CD player works fine.In the I drive "Entertainment "menu the CDC can not be selected and stays slightly dimmer than other selections. I noticed that the previous owner bought a new CD Magazine 2 years ago. When I slide the magazine into the slot the unit cycles and closes the door so it does have power Any Ideas on how to proceed? Thanks !

If the CDC loads and attempts to catalogue the CDs and will allow you to eject the cartridge, then I'd say either the laser or the spindle motor has failed.

I have had issues, even with my new CDC fitted under warranty, which was resolved by flipping the trunk power saver switch and leaving the car overnight.

Mine decided one day it would stop playing and wouldn't let me eject the cartridge..I gave up trying, powered it down and left it overnight and it was as if nothing ever happened the next day..

Yours on the other hand may be a simple case of being unable to read the discs. If the CDC doesn't respond with any valid CDs the CDC option will be greyed out.

Further update on my CDC issue

I just spoke with my BMW Dealer Service in Nashville, TN re my CDC issue. My CDC was determined by them as defective. They do not repair the units but only replace them with a new unit. They charge $645. for a new replacement unit and $550. to simply remove the defective CDC and replace/reprogram it. Total cost: $1195. FORGETABOUTIT! I still have a single CD player and Sat/Sirius radio.

Before you give up, pop it into an indy and have it read for error codes. It could be that a faulty module is corrupting the MOST and causing a problem with the CDC..
If that doesn't return anything, try and find someone that can remove it and repair the laser assembly..If it's just the laser, it's much less expensive to repair than a new unit.

Having similar issue on my 07 750Li. CDC is grayed out on the menu and refuses to eject. About once a month, it will mysteriously show up in the menu and actually play, but still wont eject. Ive seen threads where people have resorted to tapping and banging on the magazine and have had success. Others have slid thin objects under the magazine to hit a release button. Ive yet to see an actual concrete solution other than replacing it. I just use the aux with my ipod now, but id still like to see the cdc work properly.

Try a can of condensed air. It helped in my 745i. I have never had the problem in my 750li.

Mines did the same thing. Just take it out and put in a iPod kit.

It sounds like the same problem I had with mine.

If you're handy with a screwdriver its an easy fix!

If you take it apart and cant fix it, you haven't made it any worse since it doesn't work anyway

The iPod kit. Is that just a plug and play magazine? I haven't seen that. Share a link if you can.

I've had the same problem with my CDC, somehow it starts working on its own. I'll go into the Entertainment section and CDC is not greyed out I highlight it and it works. I don't really use it that much so it doesn't really bother me.
