E39 (1997 - 2003)

running rough, no power

Looking for info on testing ignition coils , getting miss fire faults on cyclinder 3 of my 2000 e39.

Try swapping the coil with a different cyclinder and see if the misfire follows it.

Mein Auto: 2007 X3 and 2000 528i
I swapped one with three. Checked ohms on both at .05 The manual says .08 Also changed fuel filter and cleared faults. Seems to run ok now. Maybe a bad connection. Computer faults will run you in circles sometimes

If the misfire returns to #3. Start looking at the injector. Also do a compression check on all cyl. to see if #3 is a little low.

it came back, Will check injector next. the plug looks ok but I haven't tried a plug swap.

also have a fault 21 bank two O2 sensor slow to respond. Sensors are relatively new.
