2012 X5 Trunk Pass-through Question

About to pull the trigger and order an the X5D or the 5.0. Could someone confirm a trunk pass though without the optional Cold Weather package that comes with the Ski-bag. Either in the X5D or the 5.0. I need the trunk pass though behind the rear armrest, to be able to carry fishing rods without flipping the seats down. I would hate to have to order the Cold weather package to get the trunk pass though, since I couldn't care less about the heated rear seats and headlight washers.

Can the ski bag or the trunk Pass-Through be ordered as a separate option possibly?

Thanks

I think you still get the pass through, but don't have the ski-bag in the way. BTW, you can completely remove the ski-bag, if you aren't using it.

Why not just get the whole Cold Weather Pkg? The heated washer jets/headlight washers/heated steering wheel are very important to have

The 5.0 comes with heated steering standard and I don't care so much for the jets and absolutely don't care about the rear seats. Why pay extra? I know that the ski Bag can be completely removed. I need the "hole" Trying to find out if I can just get that. My understanding is, without the Ski Bag option, the trunk is blocked off without the flip down opening. Just a solid piece of plastic there.

If you don't get the cold weather package, then you will not have the rear seat pass through. I know this from bitter experience, and my major regret about the car. If you want the pass through, you have to order the ski bag, which on the X5d at least, means ordering the CWP. Don't make my mistake, and order the CWP if you want the pass through. Hope this helps.

You may be over thinking this. We have had the pass through on all 3 of our E70's and I can honestly say we have never used it once. When we want to carry rods, skis, sprit poles or anything else inside the car, we just flip down the 40 side of the 60/40 seat. You can still carry 4 passengers, which is no more and no less than what you can carry if you are using the pass through.

Our rods live on our boat most of the time with the rest of the tackle, but if we transported them a lot I would probably carry them on the roof to keep the salt stains off the interior.

I'm in a bit of a different situation. My rods stay in the car full time. I surf fish, and some rods are one piece and over 9 ft long. The pass through is almost a necessity for me.

If you use car seats, then folding down the 40 side doesn't work because 2 car/booster seats won't fit on just the 60 side. One car seat plus one kid will fit on the 60 side, but the kid won't be too happy on a long trip.

Not sure what kind of fishing you do but none of my fly rods will fit in that bag. I usually just fold down one side of back seat or rest them on cargo cover and the tips on the dash above the I drive screen.

You don't have to use the actual bag with the pass though. You can flip it down, or just remove it completely. My 535 has also has a zipper on it. So you can unzip and have any rods that are too long, stick out of the bag. It can fit a 10'6" one piece rod with no issues and the seats up
