DVD/CD Drive Issue?

My DVD/CD drive was keep running with a DVD media though it is not playing and the vehicle was turned off for a while.. Has anyone came across this situation? TIA

Are you sure you're not just hearing things?

and did you turn on the iDrive after tuning the car off and removing the key?

Just unlocked the vehicle and noticed that the DVD was spinning on the drive.

NAV DVD is spinning on mine when I unlock car as well. Sounds like it is trying to get data from different locations on disk. Sometimes it starts when I drive but quickly calms down. Design flow/unoptimized disk?

Is it NAV DVD? I have an another DVD inside the audio player with mp3 songs in it. I was thinking the DVD media on the audio player is spinning. Some experts here could verify this..

You can simply remove disk from top slot and re-test. On my side this happens when no CD is present in the top media drive. Since the only disk available to the system is NAV DVD it is very clear of where this sound coming from. And the sound itself is very typical - you would hear something like that during software installation from a CD/DVD on the laptop as drive is trying to find needed info. It spins, then stops then spins again.

The infotainment system stays active for a short period once the car is "shutdown". This allows the system time to properly shutdown. Hearing the system reading from the drive is nothing to be concerned about.
