Z4 Cut out at high revs

Hey Guys,

Just new to the forum, have a Z4, 2003 2.5 and having a problem when i rev it high say >6000rpm - the dashboard lights up like a christmas tree and the car seems to limp. Pull over turn it off and back on and boom - back to normal.

I'm thinking along the lines of a fuel filter at the moment but went looking for one and it seems to be part of the pump? Do you have to replace the whole pump?

The car runs perfect at lower revs I notice its a bit slow to pick up if you floor it but picks up better if u ease the throttle on which makes me think fuel,

Have cleaned airflow meter and replaced spark plugs so far.

Any help much appreciated! Computer showing up nothing.

Sure you're not just hitting the rev limiter?

Foxy-ni, I agree with your assessment that it's probably fuel pressure related. According to realoem.com, it appears that the euro Z4 2.5i does have an all-in-one fuel filter, pump, and level; which means it's in the gas tank.

vachss, hitting the rev limiter shouldn't kill the car.
