Driving with no coolant
Hello. In a bit of a panic. My wife drove my x5 for about 3 miles city driving with no cool and in the rad. I recently had the coolant reservoir replaced and on inspecting the car the pipe to the rad was disconnected. Any thoughts on whether damage has been done? Tom

Coolant will flow through the rad once the car warms up. The Thermostat will remain closed until a certain temperature, so you might be okay. Didn't she get a low coolant warning or a high temperature warning? If she did, then you could have damaged the block, more so if they are aluminum

Take it to an indy mechanic with an OBDC reader and see if it threw a code.
If do, go back to the knuckleheads that replaced the tank and dum the mess in their laps. G/L. Sent from my HTC Inspire using BimmerApp
