Car shuts off
Anyone have their 04 745LI shut off when driving. I have had this happen 4 times. Most the time when taken off for a light.
No check engine light. Car will not restart right away. Takes a few minuets before it cranks and starts. It is almost like I shut the car off with the start/stop button. |

|
Search for alternator or battery problems. This is a symptom of one of the two going bad.

If the car is not cranking at all then I would looking into the integrated power supply module. Seach for it on here and you will find some answers.

Thanks for the leads.
Don't think the alt or battery has a problem as kl15 and kl30 are fine. will look at the integrated power supply module. |

How long will it take to start once dead ? Sounds almost like a crank sensor issue .

Not to long. At time is is with in seconds. A few times it take a few minutes. This has happened with in 5 minutes of starting the car and taking off from a start. Reviewing threads about the integrated power supply module It sounds like that could be the issue. I will go to my buddy's shop Friday and hooke up the GT1 to read faults if any and check operation of the crank and cam sensors.
Does anyone know what faults store due to a bad integrated power supply module? |

So I have found that if I carry both keys with me and I have a no start/no crack concern I charge the key I am using car starts up. This no start takes place more often when the weather is hot. Does the integrated power supply module supply power to the ingition curcuit? I have tried to find wiring diagram on the ISM but have had not luck.
I have also found that if I disconnect the power connector at the right side next to the jumper post I can get the car to start 50% or the time. Other times I have to have it disconnected for about 3 minutes and then start the car. When I checked for faults with buddy's GT1 we found many historyical battery faults. |

I'm willing to bet it's a bad crank/cam sensor. Mine cost $1800.00 to fix out the door.

Could be a bad fuel filter too and/or both.

What is the difference between Control unit power module (61 35 9 132 581) and Integrated supply module ( 12 52 7 510 638)?

Fuel filters do not stop the starter from turning. many time a bad fuel filter will cause serging before a complete shut off.
That said this will be replaced when I service the car in a few months. (Plugs, air filter, diff fluid, P/S fluid, micor filters, brake fluid flush and fuel filter. Will service trans and replace sleeve.) Car has been driving good so far. (knock on wood) |

I'm Having the exact same problem with my 745i 2004 i changed the alternator and the battery now the ips message comes on and all my lights on my dash blinks on and off but the car still kepps running and to add to that when it is in or im and a stop and it is idleing it is fine it happens only when i give it gas .. if i resolve it i will post it and if you have any infomation that could help me it would be highly appreciated

Sounds like power module glitch.
Check with inpa your power module, it's gonna tell you a lot |
