I then looked at my trunk too see my battery and it seems that my positive cable which is a foot long seems to be burning? ( turning black) Anyway i could fix this problem or do i really have to take it to the dealer? Also do i also have to buy a new IBS cable??? HELP ME!!!!! thanks

Have you had the battery cable recall work done to your car yet? If you have just bought the car the first things I would do:
- Disconnect the battery now - Call the dealer to check if recall was done There is a safety recall in relation to the cable coming from the battery, it chafes ' shirts against the bodywork & next your car goes up in flames! |

yes i have changed the battery and its in good condition. The recall i did it last year and they said its not from that. It's a red positive short cable. I just took the car to a dealer mckenna in norwalk ca and they say i need a positive cable and also advise to get a ibs cable and its will cost 880 to get the cables. Is that fair price or what should i do??

Are you aware of any cars going up in flames? I've not seen that.

I should ha e said there's a "potential" for the car to go up in flames. I don't think there have been any officily confirmed cases of cars burning out but about 1% of all potentially affected BMWs that had the recall done showed signs of damage. BMW did the recall due to the safety element of the problem.

I would contact BMWNA concerning the repair that was made. I can not remember the recall specifics, but that sounds like why the recall was done. As far as the 880.00 repair from the dealer, I would turn & run away!
