Side View Mirror Tilt When in Reverse

My side view mirror used to tilt down whenever I put the car in reverse. It doesn't do that anymore.

How can I get it to work again?

Thanks Everyone.

It's in the manual, move the mirror selection switch to the right.

No, No, No!

In my car, whenever you place the trans in reverse, the passenger side mirror "automatically" tilts down towards the curb. It dosen't do that anymore, and I want to get the function back.

Do what it says in the above posts. This is all in your owner's manual.

Help anyone...mine won't tilt down anymore even when I slide the switch and put in reverse. It goes left to right still. Motor gone bad maybe?

So it will not go up and down when adjusting the mirror from the switch?

Sorry if this sounds redundant but just so I'm clear, you can no longer adjust your passenger side mirror (period). How about you drivers side mirror, can you adjust it?

On both of my Bimmers they tilt down when in reverse, but the car (now) doesn't go back up when I move out of reverse. What i do is touch the seat number setting number 2 and it then tilts back up to the correct position. My wife is setting 1. It only does it sometimes. I figure its going bad, but this little annoying but good step gets it back up immediately. At least mine still tilts down in reverse, if it doesnt do that then it may be a reverse sensor or something.
Good Luck.

Is there a way to program the mirror so that it tilts down only so far. I think on other generations you could have the dealer program how much tilt you wanted. Have not seen anything in I-drive as a DIY. tks

leave your mirror selector switch on the right side. It should turn off the tilt option.

Change the mirror side selector switch to passenger... that should disable.

It may be useful if you sit low in the car, but I am 6'2 and don't see anything but asphalt. If I bend way down and almost have my head on the center console then I can see my wheel. Unless you can adjust the amount that it tilts, I can't use it.

I'm 6'2" also and don't really use it much either, but I think that we're supposed to see the asphalt so we can see the curb or any other obstructions.
