Look on the bottom back side of the light housing and you'll see the bottom two 8mm hex heads like there are on the top.

If you have a small piece of body colored plastic below the headlight assembly, the strip hooks into the fender at the outside corner. So rotate the inboard side out first, pivoting around the outside corner until the plastic trim releases.

My 2001 HID assemblies were sealed with black, sticky material that I think is butyl rubber glue. I was able to open the housing by baking it for a few minutes. I think the 2002 and forward models were epoxied.

But the OP just wanted to know how to remove the assemblies so he could replace them with aftermarket assembiles.

For reference, a quick /headlight F3 in the bestlinks revealed these of interest:

The problem with mine is the glue, the clips come off but the glue is amazingly strong.

If you're trying to open the assemblies to replace the adjusters, you may be able to cut a hole in the top of the case to replace the adjusters.

2003 can't be opened.
2001 can be baked for 5 mins at 200 degrees.
