bmw F30 prices deceptive.
when you goto BMWUSA.com and look at the MSRP for 2012 bmw 335 . it says $42400. however as soon as you hit build to customize the car. it immediately Jumps to nearly 45k, THAT is without you having done anything. SO really they should just list the base 335i car as 45k instead of 42400

It's only deceptive in that the default color on the website adds packages like a line, that adds to the base price. You can change to a non line color and price will not change. The problem is that BMW ties certain colors to certain lines.

ok, i got the samething you got by switching to "standard" 335i, however, where is the extra 1000 dollars charge coming from after you unchecked metallic paint and leather?
nevermind. its destination and handling. |

I recently "built" on line a nicely equipped (not fully loaded - not even nav) 328i and it came to nearly $50,000. That's a lot of $$$ for a 2wd fairly small turbo. I like BMW a lot, but I am also thinking about a bit larger car and will look at the Infiniti M37 and the new GS350, both priced nicely equipped in the low 50s...... I've test driven a 2011 535i with 1,000 miles on the odo...but I was disappointed in the test model....did not seem to track very well and hesitated when starting from a stop. Perhaps those issues have been resolved in the 2012 MY, but I would expect more for a $60,000 car. The gas mileage of the BMW and free service are appealing, but only save about $3,000 over a three year period compared to the larger competition. We'll see.

To give you some idea of how much prices have increased since the 2007 335i, my current car (configuration in my sig) had an MSRP of about $45755 (I did Euro Delivery and saved about $3700 off of that).
Configuring a 2012 335i similarly results in an MSRP of $52670, roughly a $7000 increase. For that I get HUD as a mandatory option with the NAV, but other than that there aren't that many improvements other than making the car bigger, slightly lighter and I guess slightly more fuel efficient. I'm sure there are intangibles (better ride quality, etc) but from a value proposition it's hard to believe that the F30 is $7000 better than an E90 from 5 years ago and even with Euro delivery it's still a pretty expensive car. The 328i is a non-starter for me until I drive it - I just can't imagine spending that kind of money on a 4 cylinder engine without doing some serious cross-shopping with other cars.

True - I think that was a pretty pricy option on the E90 335i, so in other words those who get 6MT are subsidizing those who go for the slush box, which I will probably have in my next car assuming I stay in the traffic hell that is Atlanta.

So, the BMW 2002 was not a real BMW? ![]() I don't have a problem with the number of cylinders, just the number of dollars they want for it. I've had SAAB with turbo 4's that were a blast to drive so that doesn't worry me too much, I just don't want to pay more for it than I paid for my 335i just 5 years ago (assuming similar options).
