First aid box installation question after searching

Hi Folks,

so i have an issue. I have finally broke down and bought an underseat first aid box for my beloved 05 m3 vert. I went to put the carrier bracket on with sheet metal screws under the passenger seat per procedure that i found on the internet but the number 10 or 12 sheet metal screws are too narrow to screw it into the holes and hold it. It looks like there is a metal plate above the holes that these screws would likely be biting into but i am not sure. I want to avoid damaging anything. I guess i was under the impression that the sheet metal screws would screw into the holes which is not correct. I searched the internet quite a bit on this topic so any help that you can provide would be appreciated.

Could you some washers under the screw heads?

Thank you for the response. The washers would have to be above the hole that you screw into which does not appear to be accessible. You screw the brackets in from the bottom of the seat and the screw head would be facing the floor.
