2001 Z3 Roadster Latch Noise

I have a nice grinding noise coming from the driver's side convertible top, front hook/latch area.

I tried an adjustment by releasing the set screw a bit to turn the hook, however, the threads on the hook are bottomed out, so naturally, that isn't the answer.

Upon further inspection, it seems that the noise is originating from beneath the latch cover in the roof corner. There seems to be a lot of play in the back of the latch assembly, which I have not inspected to see if there are any gaskets in the assembly that need replacing, loose screws/bolts or loose riveting.

Does anyone have a good link or has something they can post that shows the removal of the front convertible top trim, and replacing the latch assembly? I have checked the FAQs, but have not seen anything. Addional information on the latch P/N, and if you have one for sale (should I need to replace it) would be appreciated as well.

if the hook is bottomed out, unscrew it and grind off 3-4 theads from the end, and re-chamfer. that'll allow the hook to go in furterr.

If that would be a solution, I would need a tap and die set to add threads to the hook side. Unfortunately, I think the issue is inside the latch assembly now. I'll have to take it apart to see what lurks inside there.
