2014 28i
Ordered a 2014 Z4 28i a few weeks ago, Melbourne Red with Black Kansas Leather and the M Sport package. Car is currently in the paint shop and should be delivered by early May.
I'll post pics once it arrives in SoCal.

Looking forward to seeing it. 5 years newer than mine and they are still going to look similar. I love getting the first year model so they stay looking fresh for several years.

by the way, my choice would be very similar to yours in color and M sport. I would be adding Nav too.

A few things drove the decision. The 35i is a stick (which I love), but is a major pain in SoCal traffic. Also, the engine is not only more fuel efficient, but seems more true to what a roadster is about, namely a lighter car which is more throwable vs. pure power. I love the feeling of speed as much as anyone, which is why I drive the 135 with Dinan mods (it's one very quick car).
Also, felt like a red car...it's been silver and gray and black for many years and needed a change of scenery.

Yep, also got Nav. Just checked the BMW site and the car finished production today....so it may arrive sooner than expected in SoCal.
btw, I lived in the Miami area for about 10 years a number of years ago. Great place to own a Z4.

Yes. South Florida would be a natural place for a Z4 hence another key + for the column! :-) You did not want to do ED on the Z4?

I would have loved to do ED on the Z4 (had a great time picking up the 135 in Munich back in '10), but I work for a strategy consulting firm and have a number of projects underway that need my attention stateside.
Best parts of my ED experience were: blasting through tunnels in the alps plant tour in Regensburg (watching the roofs being manually placed on the Z4s was interesting) BMW Welt & Museum Airbus factory tour (drove up to Hamburg)

Also, thanks for the tip on the Airbus tour. I have a strong connection with aviation too hence that would be of interest even though i try not to fly on Scarebuses :-) Also, if the Z4 comes out of Regensburg (my E46 coupe came from there too), i might skip the Munich factory and do that. I presume an English tour is available? Thanks for all the helpful info and congratulations on the excellent choice. Hopefully, i will be going down the same path in the near future.

Yes, the Z4 is manufactured in Regensburg. Both the Regensburg and Munich tours are good, but I prefer the Regenseburg one (you get to walk on the factory floor much more than Munich). They have English language tours, but are much more limited than Munich, so definitely call / plan ahead (as much as 4-6 months ahead so you aren't disappointed).
Re: Airbus, much much better tour than the Boeing tour, but also limited English language spots available. Again, call well in advance. Good luck on your decision. I'll send pics on my end once it arrives in SoCal.
