Valentines Day

So, that day is coming up in a week and I can't think of anything to do. Going to dinner is cheesy and unoriginal and so is going to a movie. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried to go for dinner last year and it turned out to be a disaster because every restaurant is fully booked for that night

Strip club. Why's it always gotta be about them? they are 50% of the relationship, where's my appreciation day ?!?!?!

What are you guys into, anything active...bike ride/picnic in a park?

Make a nice special meal instead of going out?

In the past I would generally try to whip up a nice special meal at home versus the whole going out thing. Then again I love to cook so I don't mind it a bit. Why not think of her favorite kind of meal and give it a shot, unless you feel completely over your head in making such a dish. As an alternative, order out something nice to go and bring it back home to a nice candle lit dining area.

As Sailin mentioned, think of an activity or experience you both would love. It doesn't even have to be on the day of depending on timing/complexity, you could simply give her a card noting when and where such a thing would take place. Watch a movie at home with a bowl of chocolate covered strawberries instead of popcorn..you get the idea. No need to fight the throng of people going out, I always thought that was overly stressful and somewhat defeating the point as I'd want time just between the two of us.

Valentines is on Tuesday, so not much going on in town here so I'm going to prepare a small picnic dinner, sit down outside (if the weather cooperates) along the harbor & eat our meal while watching the ships come in & the evening sunset.

Later we will go to our art appreciation class.

What's better than giving my husband *me* for v-day?

Get a room at nice hotel for the night. Go to dinner, drinks afterwards and then "relax" back at your room. In the morning, have breakfast in bed.

My wife and I are leaving work, stopping at Moe's quickly to grab some dinner and then walking across the street for baby birth class. Doesn't get much more romantic than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm currently not seeing anyone, nor do I plan on falling for a girl in a week's time. My tradition is that whenever I'm single for Valentines Day, I'll order roses for some girl who I think deserves them, and I keep it anonymous. It's kind of a fun, pay it forward thing. But if I am dating someone at the time of V Day, I like to get away from the crowds. That means go to dinner the next day if necessary. Just have fun planning it, you'll think of something!

Here is some suggestions...

So I've been on a few dates with this guy (okay, more than a few, we've been dating for more than a month, hanging out once a week, turning into every day/other day schedules permitting)....and I don't know what to do? I gave his puppy a valentines days toy. (just a stuffed heart for her to destroy)

Do I get him anything for valentines day? He likes sweets; bake something?

What does he like guns,cars, or sports? Usually we gravitate more towards one of these than others.

it's cool to go drop off a stack of cards and chat with the volunteers - we have fun reading the messages while putting together the cards. This year isn't quite as big as last year in terms of numbers though - there was a huge push on the 65th anniversary of the program and TV coverage galore - this year there have been a few local TV spots, but not the same coverage..

not really, its not like we're lazy but that's something on the bottom of our lists if there's nothing else to do.

i was thinking of just making a nice dinner and watching a movie and that's pretty much what we're gonna do now because of our schedules.

Um...yeah, I do not think the 'special' brownies would be his speed.

He's not really big into sports, but watches some. Not a gun or car guy. ...I go for the geekier types apparently.

...I like cars and guns enough for both of us.

He enjoys spending time w his doggie, photography, working/his job. (Why I got puppy a v-day present)
