I made a giant heart cookie today to practice my decorating skills. The cookie was good, tasted like shortbread. But I'm not so good at the frou-frou stuff. I need to work on that.

My littles loved it, tho.

Really, if you go and do something for that person (or with them) that you enjoy doing, they'll enjoy doing it too. I must be into some weird, nerdy stuff since I'm single this year!

yeah, find something that you (and hopefully he) enjoys. simple picnic with homemade brownies after taking the dogs for a walk, movie at home (brownies, wine), etc. something relatively low-cost yet still thoughtful. After you've been married for years like, and run out of thoughtful ideas, then you can go for the "here, enjoy this $$ present. Happy Valentines!" I told LondonBlue I'm getting her a ring, but haven't told her what kind of ring.

He mentioned something about bacon cookies when we hung out this evening. I think im going to try and find a recipe!

and LMAO I remember 'the ring' how is she linking it? I wouldn't mind if hubster got me a ring like that...with about 5 little 00000 on it or a roundel. LMAO.

Made maple bacon cookies and vanilla cupcakes for him. Got the puppies some stuff. Nothing much other than that.


And for our puppies...

We're still not very big on going out to dinner. Particularly on a day that's going to be insane busy!!! Not to mention he's on call- so no out of town, or drinking. I'm sure we'll still have some fun

Oh- it's also my dads 59th birthday (we always say that's why he's such a sweetheart). Birthday lunch this weekend!

Happy Valentines Day to everyone. Just finished writing Lauren a love letter! We'll walk the beach with our crazy lab and we will go out to the Santa Barbara Art Museum after dinner.

I'm going out to lunch though with Jon Shafer!

We're grilling a couple of steaks with a couple of bottles of wine... her idea...

But today, we're still producing valentine's day cards - had 3 orders this morning - because I said "why not leave it open for ordering" - the site clearly says no delivery guarantees - despite it being obvious at this point

From a personal card perspective... I got my card to her first and she said her's "isn't ready yet"... WIN!!

Lobster Mac N' Cheese and Chocolate Mousse for tonight.

Maybe open a yummy bottle of Volnay I purchased a few months ago.. not sure yet. Maybe bubbly instead.

We did dinner last night at the Ranch House in Ojai. Great stuff and we even used a Groupon! I was told to not buy "expensive roses" this year but if I was intent on buying flowers, get "those flowers from Fresh & Easy that last a couple weeks"

This was the one I used For the cookies. It was an absolute hit I am bringing the last of the cookies to his work because everyone Pounded them down already!!! (Admittedly I did not actually try one myself... But they have gotten rave reviews)

all my stuff was up to temp - I think I used too much chocolate - the tiny chips were actually a hit - even though they were a mistake...

It was good. I changed the milk to half heavy cream and light cream. I also added about 2 oz of parmesan to the cheese sauce. I would't cook it nearly as long as she says or the cooked lobster will be overcooked. I baked mine for 20 min in a 375'F convection oven until it started to bubble on the sides and the breadcrumbs were nicely toasted.
