Rear Manual Side Window Shades

My dealer got three new 3 series sedans today. One of them was a 335i and the other two were both the 328i. The curious thing is, though, that they all had the $575.00 option "rear manual side window shades." Only the 335, however, had an electric back shade as well. My question is--does only the 335 come with the rear electric shade when you order the "rear manual side window shades" option? Since neither of the 328s had the rear shade, it couldn't have been a mistake (i.e. the factory forgot to put in the back electric shade). Is this some peculiar issue that only involves launch cars?

I have this option selected on the 328 I've ordered but plan to delete it if it does not include the electric back shade (what is the point of side shades without the rear shade).

Has anyone else noticed this?

Interesting, one would think the 328 would have the power shade in the rear if it has it on the windows.

According to the ordering guide, code 417 is manual side shades, and selecting 417 automatically adds 415, which is the power rear shade. It shows this applies to both the 328 and 335. So if it has one, it should have the other too.

I think the side shades are more important than the back shade, especially for young kids.

It's odd to not having the back shades - maybe the electric shades just weren't turned on?

Are you sure???? If the side shades are there the power rear shade should be, too. For both models. If the rear shade is missing there is a mistake.

F30 335i. My Monroney says "Rear Manual Side Window Shades." Have got them and also have the power shade in the rear window - appears to be correct that this comes along with the manual side shades. But dipped if I can figure out how to operate the power shade. Nada in the manual. Any clues?

I have manual side shades on my 2011 e90 and they come with the power rear shade. The switch for the power rear shade on the e90 is below the HVAC controls on the bottom of the center stack. I'm not sure where it would be on the F30. Maybe in the Idrive menu.

I also found the power read shade missing on both of the 328's which I looked at today at the deler. The 335 did have the power rear shade. The dealer does not have a clue as all three cars had the $575 window shade option but only the 335i included the power rear shade.

Build your own for the 328 shows and describes the power rear shade. Are you sure they weren't there? When retracted it hides behind the rear parcel shelf. There's a slot in the shelf.

After I RTFM I learned that the roller sunblind switch is on the driver's armrest, along with the switches for the four windows, right next to the rear window safety switch.

On the E9x it is on the lowest panel in the center stack.

There was no switch. It simply was not there on the two 328s that came in.

Agreed, the 328's that I looked at had the side manual shades, no power rear shade, no button on the arm rest either. The 335 DID have the read power shade and the control on the arm rest. Wonder if this is some sort of mistake at the factory. Why would an option that costs the same on the 328 and 335 not include the power rear shade on the 328?

Same location as on the new F10...

There was a mistake in production on these 328s.
