Unhappy Ways to improve OEM Ipod interface performance

Hello all. I recently picked up an '07 750li and installed the OEM ipod interface after wanting to hang myself with the 1/8" audio aux cable. I had the CDC, which made it a simple swap. Unfortunately, however, there is a MAJOR lag with the new unit, and I get spinning clock for at least 20 minutes every time I start the vehicle. As it is reading the ipod, the idrive lags, freezes, and restarts from time to time. Granted there is 2500 songs on the 80gb unit, but the ipod is 4th generation and up to date (compatible).

I have been searching this forum, coding forums, and other forums for weeks now. I know the issue has been discussed several times now but I didnt see a definitive solution. Some have said that they re-coded with mixed results, others gave up and went with a Denison (or other non-OEM), and some have had satisfactory results as is.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to improve performance of the existing unit? I have an OBD cable on order, and will attempt to modify code (that I shouldnt need, as I had a CDC). Any other code that has proven to be of benefit? Hard to believe BMW released this for such a sweet car. Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help!

did you install the ipod interface yourself? did you also add the ipod to the VO of your car?

I did the install myself, but according to my research, it was plug and play as I had CDC. Is this not accurate? What does VO stand for anyway? Alot to learn!

No it's not entirely plug and play, VO = Vehicle Options , you gotta add the ipod to your VO so your car knows it's installed and is an option, Paper shares some help on this issue in this thread
