Paper, thanks for trying that, still need to work out why I can't get into the menu, may have to fire up DIS to reset it!

Ahh looks like what happened to me! NCS, INPA or Tool32 will not be able to communicate. My light module was ancient being a 1001 build car. The software is not in the V40> data folder to reflash it. That's if it is even possible. I never succeeded in recovering the unit. I'd look out for an LM2 if you can!

Actually I been waiting for a member for almost 2 weeks to bring me an LMA he has for sale , but he has flaked every time he has
Said he was going to come by with it . I have canceled plans on 5 different occasions & have lost money because of him flaking on me . I have sent him another message today
& I'm hoping he comes by , or I will just have to buy 1 from the dealer or ebay .

Great news Paper! Glad you got it sorted. They must be a bit fragile! Did you get a direct replacement or upgrade to an LM2?

Successful flash of MMI, but...

Okay, I have flashed the MMI using WinKFP and it worked great with the ham radio supply I bought for 118 euros from Germany:

The power draw held steady at just under 16A during the entire process and the little PSU was rock solid at 13.8V for the 40 minutes it took (I had a multimeter checking the voltage at the underhood connection point).

The flash brought the proper phone settings menu to life in the MMI. BUT after the phone is connected, the Comms display is stuck saying "Transferring data..." and the phonebook sync never completes. I can make and receive calls, the hands free and keypad work.

So one step forward, one step back. I am at the same point as before, only the screen looks different.

Maybe I need to do the TCU retrofit properly, i.e. write the VO to the CAS/LMA and code the entire car. Any ideas?

Politby, congratulations on flashing the MMI! PSU looks good by the way!

Hmm I have a 4S, contacts sync properly, I would have thought the 4 would work the 4 and 4S run the same software.

I hear the new iOS 6 will have Bluetooth MAP support, hopefully this will allow text messages on the iDrive! I may install the beta on my old iPhone 4 and try it out in the week.

Maybe update your TCU next with your new PSU!?

Has anyone tried the OPPS (I think it's called) the orange and black fibre interface? It is able to program modules much faster as it interfaces with the MOST bus. Can this be used with WinKFP?

mistake on my part. The flash had reset all the coding to default and the BT parameters were not active.

Works great now.

Strangely enough I still have video in motion so that coding mod was not reset.

Great news! glad you fixed it!

Masa, On Saturday after washing the car I got in and as soon as I put the key in I got the SOS failure message, I read on some forum that unpairing your phone and re-pairing it fixes it?

However I just used INPA to read all errors on all modules, then erase them all, fixed, has not come back yet. Strange that you can read errors in all modules using this method but cannot if you try them individually!

None of the online/assist stuff works. Bu I expected that since I have not coded the entire car since the TCU was replaced.

I am not getting any error messages though.
