How to Retrofit a Bluetooth TCU to your car

To be legit you have to be registered as an apple developer, however from what I hear you can download the beta (search google) and use the manual update in iTunes, there is a tutorial online, I havent got round to doing it yet been busy, but have a look. Its not recommended to install it on your primary device as its could be a little buggy!

PAPER, I would love to help, but I havent retrofitted the SVS yet, got the unit and the connector but not the fibre cable! I guess there is a software mismatch, I would re-flash with WinKFP.

Currenty I have, EMF releasing by itself (80% of the time I get in the car after about >2hrs and the hand brake has released), can no longer use auto hold, I cannot enter the service menu on the cluster, if left on CDC in the morning it will revert back to CD 01 track 01. sometimes I can listen to a CD but the idrive shows the radio screen showing available stations (only at startup). Thats just naming the most annoying ones! I thing the CDC is because the power module cuts the power sometimes, the NAV has a mind of its own and refuses to shutdown sometimes.

Thanks Paper, Ive tried that I can only get to the other menu, with the sensor values etc... Very frustrating, I will try to install DIS again and see if I can reset it using that, Ive done it before for the brake pads shortly after buying the car, why I cant do it now is a mystery!

Try it again . The first 5 or 6 times I tried I kept getting the other menu to . Your holding the trip meter to long . If you can access the other menu , then you can access the reset menu

Thanks paper, I will try again, I don't understand how I'm holding it too long (others have said this too), every video I've seen clearly shows holding the button down until the service menu pops up then release. The service menu never appears. The abs icon flashes up but nothing for another 5 or so seconds until the hidden menu pops up.

I will try again with the engine running tonight. Many thanks!

The coding was the easy part . All the hardware exchanging is what took up most of the time .

Now I know why some Shops charge so much labor on dismantling & resembling ,

Was a lot of work , plus changing everything in the dash .
Lets not forget I completely Removed your center console
Top & bottom half , & completely broke down the top & bottom half
To change the key lock & the new parts you wanted put in .
Then after breaking everything down & putting it all back
Together with the new parts , I coded everything & made sure
It was all working properly . I also change stuff in the rear pillar .
Oh I almost forgot to mention checking Your lights & using my ignitor
( excuse my spelling ) & bulb to see if that was the problem with your headlight .

You & I both know if you took your car to an Indy or dealer , your car
Would have not been done in 1 day . You also know you would have
came out the pocket & paid big time to have all that work done !!!

I've been trying this for days! Still not getting anywhere, I have followed all instructions to the letter, the only menu that pops up is the cluster test menu.

And just now on the way home the brake pad warning showed up, not great but telling me every time I get in the car is pretty annoying! I think either pulling the battery or swapping modules out and flashing them has corrupted the CBS data and it will not let me reset it manually from the cluster. (this is written in one of the service documents that CBS data can be affected if flashing certain modules, its all to do with time and date information too apparently??? )

I will have to re sync the CBS using DIS and enter the correct service intervals manually, ive done over 1K miles since the oil and coolant change, and now the brake pads!!!! What a PITA!

Have you tried reseting the cluster with NCS ?
You know using expert mode to set it to its default .

Think I have found a way of resetting the CBS with Tool32, Came across a quick example by accident and done some research.

In TOOL32 open up the KOMBI65.PRG file and select cbs_reset.

Taking some time to translate the different parameters you have 5 bits of information you need to enter:

Service ID you wish to reset; Desired service percentage; Service level; Year; Month.

So to reset oil:

Oel;100;31;255;255

Will try this out tomorrow hopefully, this may mean you can tweak values in the service menu that you cannot normally do from the cluster (i.e. CBS editing in DIS) This hopefully fixes my problem!

Hi Guys ..... I'm just getting my facelift panels painted this week. At the moment my car is bits as I install the Comfort Access wiring and antennas. The hardest part is removing the carpet to put the four footwell antennas in. The rest of the CA is easy.

Hi Rookie, just re-adjusting after the missus is gone. Enough time has passed and I am all good now. My car has been running perfect with all the changes I made. Hasn't missed a beat. In fact, I used to get all sorts of problems when BMW were looking after it, now that I am, I haven't had any gremlins or hiccups. It is so easy to monitor and look after my car with the Dashsoft tool.

Ace all ur updates should be in DIY section. Good job pn everything. Ive watched a lot of ur vid and read all the information. I think my head is going to explode if i keep reading. Lol
