Hi Jeff,
Thanks for replying, you have an E60 LMA? strange... I have fitted an LM2 which is E6X. Correct, the trace file I posted is from my original LMA supplied with the car at manufacture (Oct 2001). I made no changes, I backed up a load of modules to see what coding can be changed. Here is my LM2 coding file, remember the LM2 is used on the 5,6 and 7 series, you may be able to make sense of this as you have an E60 LMA: Code:

Stuart. Thanks for posting your trace files. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the result I wanted. When I chaged the Pulse-Width Modulation for the inner front turn signals (the ones that are working) from wert_02 to wert_01 they stopped working. They have 3 possible values where as the outer turn signals only have 2 values to choose from, but when I changed them from wert_01 to wert_02 they still didn't work.
I don't understand why both sets of turn signals that use the identical bulb type don't function the same way, nor do they have the same options (the inner have 3, wert_01, wert_02, and wert_03. The outer turn signals only have 2 (wert_01, and wert_02). I'm not sure what options I have at this point other than putting the amber bulbs back in and give up the dream of all LED lighting (minus the damn door handles). Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff P.S. -Still working with Paper on getting the modules synced. We are supposed to use Expert Mode to reset the CAS, KOMBI, MMI, and TCU, and then READ all the modules to get them to communicate with each other. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to get NCS Expert to read all the modules at once to accomplish this. Paper is going to get back to me when he remembers the sequence he went through to get it to work. I'll post back after he lets me know. I wish INPA had an option to sync all modules. |

No worries, ok I will try and help, I've been a bit busy the last few evenings so haven't had chance to look into it. You have an E60 LMA? And euro headlights. Can you post the part number of your LMA and what coding files its using? Please accept my apologies if you already have! And you have taken the standard bulbs out and fitted LED versions, do these have integrated resistors or anything like that to fool the bulb check? I will compare headlight wiring and coding later on this evening, the wiring could be different for the two versions of headlight due to the drl markers. Yeah that would be good if you could! NCS is a powerful tool, I'm sure it has many hidden features that we don't yet know about! If only I was an engineer at BMW! Stuart |

When doing so I realized that they actually take PY21W bulbs (same as P21W but with a 150 degree offset on the 2 bottom pins). Here is the odd part. I somehow got the P21W LED bulbs to fit and they work in the middle two holders, but not the outside ones in question. (very hard to get out though) I'm hoping this is the problem so I ordered 2 PY21W LED bulbs and they will be here sometime next week. I'm hopeful this should end that problem. On a side note I have disabled all monitoring of the front turn signals this entire time to rule out the issue that the car is expecting bulbs with a higher wattage than the LED produce, and I refuse to put resistors inline to trick the car. All of this being said if the new bulbs don't fix the issue I will just end up keeping the amber bulbs (after spraying them with I fine mist of silver spray paint so I don't see the ugly amber bulbs through the clear plastic). Next issue was the Auto P. Based on information given to me by Paper I went through the following procedure: 1. Reset the CAS, KOMBI, MMI, TCU modules in that order using the expert profile. Then without leaving NCS Expert or changing profiles I read both the CAS and LMA using the FA_READ job (Not READ ECU). Unfortunately this didn't give me back my Auto P functionality so I tried it again still with no luck. After this I just changed to the Fister profile and restored each of my modules from the backups I made prior to starting this. You might have better luck than I did so it might be worth a try. I know what I'm writing now isnt really part of this thread, but I needed some advice, and I have a lot of respect for the people I talk with in this forum but especially this thread.
I have had my front and rear struts replaced on my 2003 745Li with 90k miles. I used an Indy mechanic that some may be familiar with on this forum since he also does coding in the NYC area. I like o buy my own parts since I can get what I want and save money also. Here is the problem. I had this Indy mechanic replace the front struts and bumps and then the rear. Prior to doing so I had the front control arms replaced a few months before by a different mechanic before I started working with the person from this forum. He has always been nice and polite and done good work. I mentioned to him when I brought the parts (OEM) if I needed anything else and he said no. Well the car drives much better since the shocks/struts were definitely in need of replacement. I do find that when driving even at slow speeds over rough road or over even a small pothole I feel a lot of vibration and noise especially in the front. When driving over smooth road she drives like a dream. I happened to get a small crack in one of my rims, and after getting the rim repaired close to my home (Indy mechanic is about 40 minutes away). I asked the owner who is also a certified mechanic if he knew of a reason why I would be having this problem. He took the car for a test drive and then asked if the mechanic had replaced the strut mounts when he did the work. I answered no, and he shook his head and said that is your problem. I asked would the entire assembly have to be removed to replace the mounts, and he replaced yes and that the labor would be the same as if I was replacing the struts again. The part is very cheap $50 US each for the front and rear pairs. The labor is the major cost. I thanked the guy and immediately contacted the Indy mechanic to see why he didn't replace the strut mounts while he was already there, and he said he inspected them and they were fine. I have a few questions. Considering how cheap the parts are and how expensive the labor is to have to go back later to replace these mounts, should they have been replaced anyway? 2. The mechanic told me that the problem couldn't be due to this anyway. Since the front control arms were replace very recently what else is the next possible culprit if he is correct and the problem is coming from another damaged or worn part? I asked him before I come all the way down there what was he prepared to do if it were the mounts. He didn't answer. I like the guy and his work, but I'm not paying twice for him to do this if it should have been done when the struts were replaced, and even if it is another part(s) causing the issue I still think he should have told me that the mounts should be replaced at the same time due to the high cost associated with replacing them later. I haven't used his name because if I'm wrong I don't want him to be affected. Thanks for listening to my diatribe. Jeff |

hey Guys,
i need some help. I successfully retrofittet the TCU 1.5 in my 04 745i, removed the SA633 and added the SA #638 to my Vehicle. I also managed to change the VIN in my TCU 1.5 device using Tool32. I can read error codes, codings etc. from the control unit but i am unable to write a new configuration (even if its blank) using the "sg_codieren" job. Quote:

Nice work, bulbs were the issue then! I have some good news! Managed to re-enable the auto park feature!!!! Using INPA open up the EMF module, clear any error codes, go into one of the tabs at the bottom named something like activate, in there you should find some options, one of them is called enable auto-p. This is all off the top of my head! You will have to have a look, it's not that difficult to find. Select it and a window will pop up saying on=1 off=0, in the text box enter 1 and hit ok. Cycle the ignition and it's now fully functional! Why changing the MMI deactivates it is anyone's guess! But thats the fix! P.S. if anyone can show me how to sync the CBS on the kombi so I don't have to clear service intervals using string values in tool32 (it's really not much fun!) then tell me!!! I want Auto P working, but losing the Voice Command really sucks. Any help would be appreciated from this forum. I reset the SVS ECU module in INPA but that didn't work either. I don't have WinFPK so I can't flash and of these modules. If someone in the NYC area has the program and a charging device to keep the voltage at the levels needed to update/flash the modules I would be very appreciative. Hope someone can help here. That's it, it's under the electromechanical parking brake module, and the comfort setting! When you open the comfort option it will show a 0 just type a 1 and hit ok then leave it. This should enable the auto p again. Mine showed a 0 if I opened it again, theoretically if you have done that your auto p should work now. I also have that can rx error message. I don't recall having it before the retrofit of the MMI. I think it means it's lost comms or dosent understand a message it's been sent. Sorry cant help on the SVS, I have had mine working using the socket in the dash but it's a retrofit, so I don't have the correct fibre cables to fit it properly in the boot. One thing I will say, when I first got it i plugged it in the loop in place of the TV module. It didn't work, I think that was because a module was missing (the TV) in the loop and it was supposed to be there. This could be the same issue, while coding you have added a module to the module index in the most loop and it's not actually there causing the SVS not to work. I don't know where this list is generated it may be from the VO and it's stored in the ASK. Research into that, I may be on the right track.... Try the EMF again, mines working perfectly now. Yes that's right, I was fixing my airbag error at the time and was removing the key and inserting again.
After I removed the laptop and locked the car, I returned started the engine tried the auto p an it worked. Stuart |

and excited to start my retro fit.So far Iv gathered ill need a TCU,(84109149615) thanks ACE and Stuartjohn. Ill need a later model MMI aka facelift. plugs for the fiber as well as the 54 dongle. And a decent batt charger for the flashing end. Now whats gotten me scrathing my scalp is the flashing and software end as to which program is easiest or best. NCS, tool32 and ACE's Dashsoft. I also had the CAN RX error in my EMF module. Deleted the error code, then tried a bunch of different combinations of the "activate comfort in INPA" with no luck. Restarted the car a bunch of times too. I guess Stuart got lucky!

I have a problem after update software in TCUM Programming went success new software version 9231089 old 6946428 BUT for some reason drawer keypad won`t work (tried recode TCUM) but Coding Index increased to C22 ????? The highest Index for E65 is C13 I thinking ![]() and my question is How to connect NSC to work with the unit? politby had the same problem in post #341 tried already change Coding index and other three options loading FAL profile but no change Interesting is that INPA and Tool 32 showing Index 22 but NCS want C16 ???? Also for some reason ISTA/P not see my unit but ISTA/D recognizes the unit ok thanks for any suggestions |

Strange that the keypad has stopped working. My TCU is on coding index C13 I believe, I found that deleting $630 from my VO and adding $633 for euro Bluetooth option has now allowed me to read and code the TCU without messing around with dummy VO changes in NCS! What VO changes have you made so far? Stuart |
