What do the digital gauges on tach mean

On the bottom of the Tachometer there is a digital battery gauge and an energy recovery gauge. What do they really indicate? Does the battery show voltage or capacity?

At first I thought the energy recovery showed kinetic energy (or energy that could potentially be converted from motion to the battery during coasting or braking), but it does not seem to fit what I see when driving.

The manual only names them and I could not find a good description of what they indicate.

The digital battery gauge, I believe, is only visible if the dealer forgot to turn off the pre-delivery settings. Typically you only see the red/blue instantaneous mpg readout along the bottom of the tach. It moves into the blue section when coasting to indicate energy regeneration function is active. If you see the battery icon you might want to take a visit to your dealer.

UPDATE: The small blue battery icon will show --- I was talking about if you see a percentage charge readout for the battery.

I made a slight mistake above. You'll see the small blue battery icon at the end of the blue part of the mpg ring. I was talking about a percentage readout of the battery charge -- if you see that, your dealer has to change a setting.

Thanks, I do see the battery icon. I guess the question is there a scale for the blue area, and what does it really measure?

Thanks, again.

No scale. Merely shows that the on demand alternator is engaged during coasting.

I thought it indicated that energy was being harnessed and was contributing to charging the battery.
