My "next purchase"? You assume too much.

I have not seen anything indicating that the 8-speed will be put in the diesel. If it gets it, great. If not, great. I personally think it's fine without it.

That my opinion. Get your own.
Nice copout.

It's subtle, but still, I could detect it shift SEVEN times when going from 0-to-freeway speeds. That's a lot. So I'm personally glad that the diesel has just 6-speeds.
I don't usually mind my transmission using all of it gears, especially when it's an auto as good as the ZF 8HP is. The 40d with the 8 speed gets 3 mpg better then the older 35d with the 6 speed in the UK and is over half a second quicker to 60.

Makes zero sense.... diesel gets what? 3 more miles on the highway than a 35i? 3 more miles was your justification to get a diesel over the 50i or XM??

I don't like feeding trolls, but it's not a copout when I got a 2011 with 9k miles for under $48k. And I paid CASH. The rest is still in the bank. So who's now?

More like 6-7 MPG more in reality. But when you drive 25,000 miles per year, then yeah. I'm currently getting over 600 miles per tank.

Ridiculous to argue that the 8 speed isn't a better transmission.

I've heard the same bs regarding the 8 speed in my IS F. The top gears are only used for highway cruising and improve mileage by a significant percentage. "Constantly searching for the right gear"....pure bs.

Why do you think that the M3 gets, on average, 6-8 mpg less even though it's a smaller motor??? Same thing applies here.
