Coupe Info
I know we will not really know much for a few more months, but I was wondering if any of the dealers/auto writers got any hints about the coupe during media/training events?
I remember with the E92 they wanted it to stand apart from the sedan more than the E46s had. I am wondering/hoping this trend will continue, as the E92 was much better looking (in my opinion) with more attention to detail than the E90 (not just my opinion). Jon? Emission? looking at you guys... Thanks |

Quickly looking over my notes from Detroit the two main things that were confirmed. The F32 3 series coupe headlights will connect to the center grills like the sedan. I would expect them to have a slightly different shape but BMW is very proud of the new headlight design and wants to feature it prominently on both the sedan and coupe. The coupe hood will also be almost identical to the sedan, I would take that to include the much discussed (hated?) hood line, the pronounced swoop down at the front and the crease lines running from the grills to the A pillars. I didn't get the impression the coupe will stand apart as much as the E9x series, Mark (who was also there) might disagree.

Thanks for the info Tim! That is interesting after all of this talk about it possibly becoming a "4 series" as an entirely different model. I think I am over the initial sock of the headlight design so that all sounds ok to me.
I wonder how they will implement the "lines". The E92 was supposed to be sportier in design than the E90 regardless of options so this will be interesting. |
