Muffler Delete on 535

I have a 2011 535 and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get a muffler delete done. I don't have a lot of experience with exhaust work but I really would like to do this mod. Would this be something easy to do on my own or should I get it done by a muffler shop? Thanks for the help!

There will be loud droning in the cabin, if you are ok with that go for it. You will need metal cutting and welding equipment. I'll leave it to the muffler shop to get it done.

Alright sweet. I've also heard that if you remove parts of exhaust the turbo get to spin to rapidly and run to much boost for the engine, is this something that could happen?

You are reducing the exhaust back pressure by opening up the exhaust, by minimizing the back pressure downstream of the turbo it makes the exhaust before the turbo more effective. Helps maximize boost response.

It really depends on how much flow/restriction our exhaust has. If you open it up it could just make a bunch of noise and not even help anything.

I have heard of low end Torque was lost .. i.e. slow pick up. Personally I believed on the German engineers why the exhaust system is designed this way.

On other turbo cars that I have owned the single biggest performance improvement I made was freeing up the exhaust especially the downpipe. Night and day.

You will not have any drone when you're cruising if you leave the resonaters on. Just cut the mufflers off. I'm getting mine done today.

Can you please do a sound video when you get a chance? I'm on the edge of cutting my mufflers off as well.

Thanks!

Here you go. The video does not do justice to the beautiful sound this engine makes. I've never heard an e90+ sound as good as this e60 does.

But you have an N55 engine. So your sound might be slightly different. 4 people commented that it sounds like a Porsche. I think I will be the first (correct me if I'm wrong with proof lol) to add an x pipe, delete factory resonator and add vibrant resonators. I want to make it sound even better. Let's see how my experiment works. I don't want it to be sounding like a Porsche lol.

About the drone issue. There is non. May just when you take off slowly. But then again I'm using 2.5 inch pipes and large exhaust tips so I'm sure that adds to the raw grunt. You could always use vibrant ultra quiet resonators to avoid possible drone.

Okay so I did a muffler delete with DP. There is drone around 1500 RPM other than that it sounds deep and loud with lots bang and crackle. If you rev really fast it sounds like a v10 lambo.

I'm considering same for my 550i. Please update, particularly on drone and possible back pressure issues.

Muffler delete N54 535Xi

I am considering doing a muffler delete on my 2008 535Xi, where can I find the pipe connector and larger exhaust tips ?
I called Autoanthing and Carid this afternoon and they both said that I have to get them fabricated.
Any advise ?
