First Post - Pics and review of my new 335i.

I came from a 2008 135i and took delivery of my F30 last night. I am really having a blast so far!

Exterior: Overall I like the look. Not too different from the E90. The hoodline is a bit weird and the front plate wart is awful. If anything, it's a bit conservative.

Interior: I really love it. I wasn't sure about the red highlight trim but it turned out pretty nice. Materials are much better than my old 135i. Lots of toys to play with. HUD sounds a bit silly but is actually pretty cool.

Power: I wouldn't hate an extra 30-40 hp but it's a quality engine. The sound is better than my old N54 but not quite as loud.

Economy: Seems good. Start/stop can be a bit annoying in certain situations but you can turn it off or just work around it.

Driving: Very well balanced. Tons of grip. Feels less skittish than the 1. Drives very light for such a big car. I was very afraid of electric power steering but it's not that bad. Not as good as a hydraulic system but it's the future. You can place the car exactly where you want to be and the feel is good. The effort is way too light in comfort mode. The ride is so good that there is no reason to not leave it in sport. Runflat tires have really come a long way. There is no crashing over bumps like there used to be.

Overall I am loving it!

Nice pictures. I just hate the non-led rear lights. What a regressive move? I also think that the front of the M-sport car will look much better, so I will probably get an M-sport again. Also, the steering wheel was too thin for me after getting used to mine.

Welcome to BF! Glad to see another F30 driver on here! Great looking car

I can't wait to get behind the wheel of one soon

Can you post up pictures of the new HUD?

some notes

- I can't believe BMW didn't put LED tails on this car
- love the sportsline wheels!
- BMW has stepped up this interior big time. I thought I wouldn't like the red accents, but it looks awesome
- color LCD in the dash is cool
- Love the new gauges
- no heated seats?
- seats look great with the contrast stitching
- I really like the new Sports Displays in the iDrive

Looks great! Congrats. How is the steering when it's all set up in Sport? The suspension?

My preference is to stay in sport all the time. The steering in comfort is far too light. In sport, it is lighter than my old 1 but still communicative. The suspension in sport is great. There is body roll but it isn't any worse than what I'm used to. Not only is the handling great in sport, but it also soaks up all the bumps. The new generation of runflat tires really are a big step forward.

Thanks for the great pix. I think I would also go with the high gloss black trim over the aluminum. It's hard to see what it really looks like in pictures. Can you tell what kind of material it's made of? (Doesn't look like wood, at least it doesn't look like it has any grain.) Thanks!

The high gloss black trim is just shiny plastic. The red trim looks very high quality, like matte metallic.

Wow, is that leatherette? If so, it looks fantastic. Love those wheels on the Mineral Grey as well. Great looking car, man.

Can you get a couple of shots of the ambient lighting on the doors? That's one thing I don't think anyone has posted pics of. Thanks.

Those are great pictures. I'd love to see one parked next to an E90 to get a real-word feel for the size difference.

BMW should do a recall on the front bumper wart for people who don't have to have a front plate. It's hideous and they've obviously admitted the issue by fixing the later builds (like after the first 2 weeks).

The difference between sport and classic really is pretty minor.

What can you do under the Configure Sport option? Can you further customize Comfort mode?
How does the Comfort mode in Sportsline compared to Comfort mode in non-Sports line?

You can set it up where it has sport steering and throttle with comfort suspension.

How is the standard stereo, is it adequate?

I also prefer your 19 inch wheel to the 18 inch wheels which have that awful two tone look.

It does the job. It seems a little better than the 1 series base.

Congrats

Car Looks Great!! I really love the color. Nice selection all the way around. I think the F30 styling as well as the rest of the car overall is an improvement over the E90. I have an E46 and will eventually purchase an F30, most likely the 328i which I test drove. That car has a brilliant engine though not as refined sounding as the inline six.

With each successive model, in pursuit of refinement and technological advancement, BMW slightly degrades the involvement of the driver with the driving experience though the cars are faster with better handling. One area in which this was noticeable was steering feedback which is a few steps behind the E90 and significantly worst than the E46. The suspension feedback is also not as communicative but still good.

Thankfully, in spite being bigger, the car lost weight. It also feels slightly lighter on its feet - probably attributable to a lighter engine, stiffer chassis and possibly lowered unsprung weight. Compared to the competition such as Audi, Infiniti, Lexus and Acura, BMW is still ahead of the pack.

Actually it gained weight if you're talking 328i. The early reports of a weight loss were...um...misleading.
