Talking My first new car & first bmw

I've owned numerous used vehicles in the past, but never bought a brand new car. Only ride I've ever purchased new was my Honda CBR600RR. After I sold that 600RR years ago, I've longed for something fun to fill the void that my bike had left. So last week I picked up my first new car (also, my first bimmer). Never had I thought that I can find a car that would give me almost as much enjoyment as my bike did. This thing is a beast! I'm really digging the HUD, iDrive system, and sport mode on my new 2015 335i Msport. Just wanted to share a pic and looking forward to learning more about the car on this forum.

Congrat black grille makes the car look sharp.

Thanks guys! I'm coming from a car that's about 16yrs old so I'm in a state of awe with all of these technology and gadgets...feel kind of ridiculous, but I think I'm gonna have to actually read the car's instruction manual lol.

Yeah after seeing the black kidney grilles, I knew I had to get it on my car. Cheap upgrade that in my opinion, improved the look of the alpine white.

Congratulations on your new ride. My wife and I have a 2013 335 x-drive with M sport but it is mainly hers as We also have a 535 GT x-drive which is my vehicle though I try and find all kinds of excuses to drive "hers".

Women don't read manuals but I found reading mine tedious and non-intuitive. See if you can learn the iDrive intuitively like I did. It seems far more satisfying. There is also a limited Owner's Manual on the iDrive itself that will show if you are not moving. It is fairly helpful as well for what it covers.

If none of that works, ask the question in this forum and some helpful soul is bound to help.

Enjoy many, safe, happy miles in your new bimmer.

Yeah I typically don't read manuals and like to figure things out by playing with it, but in this case, it just seems that there is a ton of features that I may not ever know they exist if I don't at least browse through the manuals.

I appreciate the advice and will definitely be asking questions...also, you're very lucky to be able to afford two bimmers.

If you are going to get your first bmw, definitely get a x35i engine. Blast to drive. Great choice of packages.
Congratulations!

I'm just getting out of a silver car so I needed a change, and I think the alpine white is really growing on her now.

Awesome! I miss the RR everyday, but my wife and kids hated it each time I took it out, knowing how California drivers are...

I rode five years and gave it up also due to then being married and figuring I should try to keep myself as safe and sound as I could being a father. The BMW will also prove to be a fun hobby, enjoy!

Yeah I rode for 4 years before giving mine up...Although I miss canyon carving with the RR, I'm really looking forward to this new experience. Thanks again!

Must compliment you for that realization! Better than thousands of others.
Driving a BMW is exhilarating but you are surrounded by airbags and a big engine upfront.

Thank you, I certainly appreciate the kudos always try to maintain a level head since I'm keenly aware that I'm prone to being a hothead older now, hopefully more mature, always loved cars and been a gear head so right now BMW provides a safe(r) playground. Funny enough I got the bike after doing a year of riding with borrowed bikes, the MSF course, lots of track riding and a looot of riding in groups with trusted friends where I spent months in the middle of the pack then lead then backmarker controlling traffic. Extremely fortunate to learn with riders that have been riding for a decade or more and I swallowed my pride, tipped my hat to these experienced riders and simply tried to emulate and listen. Same thing I did for autocross. Porsche is next... Let's enjoy our rides folks! Happy Holidays!
