It appears like the previous owner replaced the head unit with a used part and did not have the old part programmed with the recipient car's VIN. The dealer ship might be able to help you out with this, or you might have to find a shop that can program the module for you.

HELP !!!! I had a similar problem with water spilling in the truck and getting a note that the "HEAD UNIT NOT PROGRAMMED PROPERLY" I replaced the module in the trunk and I'm still getting the message and the dealer said that everything is working properly but I'm still betting the mesage. What can be done to get rid of the message?? Can the dealer reprogram the system to get everything to line up ie: veh ID etc...

Mike
